Title: Almost....
Post by: Fish Assassin on April 21, 2006, 08:28:15 PM
Headed out to my local flow for to try my luck this afternoon. Upon arrival at my favourite pullout I noticed that the trail was littered by broken tree branches and boughs from the recent wind storm. Arrived at my favourite run to find the water level just perfect; a nice green tinge but clear. After 20 minutes of covering the run I was staring at my float when I suddenly saw a steelhead emerge from the tailout and headed for my roe with its mouth wide opened ! At the very last second the steelhead turned it's body and swam away  :'( :'( I covered several other promising runs but nothing. All in all a nice day to be out. Aside from a couple of joggers there was nobody else on the river.  :)

Now all you need to do is figure out what part of youro setup lured the fish to turn away? Too big of a split shot close the offering? Too heavy of a leader? Possibly too big of a hook which the fish may of seen along with your roe? ahhh the complications of fishing ;D
