what do you think about bass in the lower mainland vanc, particularly moving waters.
-
I'll give an answer to this question instead of voting. I believe they can belong in the right situation. If they were to make some man made lakes with no way of them getting out than we could have a bass fishery. That is the only way it would be accepted.
-
No, it would only encourage the bucket brigade.

I dont think it would. It wouldnt be any worse than it is already.
-
I'm keeping them at bay. ;D
-
Hmm, a lake comes to mind. Trout Lake in Vancouver. That would be a good lake for bass fishery.
-
I agree with BB in my veiw I like to fish bass but when I catch 5 bass and1 trout it ticks me off >:(
-
It's a tough decision. I really like trout. But, if a lot of those lakes that are put-in-trout-and-take-them-out-before-winter lakes had bass and crappies instead, the fishing would probably be a lot better and much easier to maintain. Trout lake, Rice Lake (where planted trout have been reported floating belly up) would be good candidates.
-
It's not a native species so my worry is that if we allowed it in a few more lakes some idiot would transplant them into "his" lake and before we know it the fragile trout fishery in BC could be in serious risk. I'm all for keeping the aggressive little buggers at bay and not expanding their range any further. Just too much to lose and not enough to gain in my opinion.

Jetboatjim....you should add 1 more option to the voting poll:
I WANT freak to get mad... ;D ;D ;D

done, thanks I missed that one.

This topic comes up every spring/summer it seems . There is no stopping the fact that bass will always be in BC , and it's too bad that bass are introduced illegally in some waters . I don't support "bucket brigade" in anyway . But I do support local sport fishing , even if it is not a local , native fish species .
-
Well said James, this topic is up on another forum and alot of people think that we should keep throwin them in the bush. I say they are here to stay and we should support the fishery while trying to prevent it from going out of control.
-
I was thinking the same thing a derby if only a few are targeting them they will surely flourish but if we each gave up a weekend of fishing for our favorite silver fish and concentrated on the bass you may be able to slow their growth.
just a idea.
-
Oh government acted alright. Protecting them.
-
The only way to slow their growth is by poisoning the lake river they are in. There goes our native fish poulation. :-X
