Title: cap may 31-june 1

May 31-Well I ventured out to the cap fished the upper and was able to lose 2 decent summer coho,on roe. went back that night with dave g and managed to get one about 1 1/2 lbs on roe.

June 1- arrived really early to the cable pool 3:55 am(tried to beat Eric C)and one older fella was already there, managed to hook and land 4 -12inch coho but let them all go hoping for a bigger one.caught mine on roe. seen a few, but not many.

water is high but very clear.....jj

Most of the cohos this time of year is around 1-2 lb. range.

12 inch coho? why are these coho so small?

summer fish 1-3 lb average ,gets bigger as the season moves on. BLUEBACKS, Its because they come back really early in their cycle.

You don't have to be there that eary to beat Eric, he always arrives at 5:30.am

There are other places to fish. It's not as if all the fish are congregated in one spot.

Eric carlisle is a great guy, i have his book and read it atleast twice a season. The guy has taught me alot when i catch him in my spots!  ;D One of the best and most experienced guys on the cap. But when ur retired and u fish every day(I asked him and he fishes atleast 2 hours everyday!) well u have a much better chance of being the best. He was the one to show me how to hook springs consistently in canyon pools

He hasn't really been goin to the spots i fish till about 3 years ago. Seems that his usual spots are being over crowded or just not producing like mine!  ;D
