Drove over the bridge today, more water than I thought.  Big my friend tree 100 yards down from the bridge goes almost half way across the river.  Should be interesting when the snow starts to melt..

A friend of mine was on the lower a few days ago and didn't get anything.  I heard there's alot of fish in the canyon lately.

I apologize in advance if this question has been answered before but...

Are you allowed to walk down the river on the Bible Camp side from the bridge along the new dyke?  In the past, I've always felt uneasy walking down that side...

I have done it a couple times, however I do not know if we're allowed.  I also felt uneasy about it.  Hopefully someone can answer this..

Absolutely not allowed there at all.....they don't seem to enforce as much as they did b4 the dike "upgrades" were completed....there was No trespassing signs in there on a fence I believe...is there now...I do not know, never fish that side ::)

If some one bugs ya, just say you know a guy named charlie, that is short and has black hair..... ;D

Who actually owns the land?  Is it FN or just private property? It would seem that the new dike was constructed on land previously posted as private.

It is FN property and they will ask you to leave if they catch you.

Unless you are fond of wading across the river, there really isn't that much fishable water.

There is a pretty vicious dog that tried to bite me the few times I tried walking down there last fall.

I like to check out the Chelalis even if the fishing is slow.  You just can't find that type of flow in Ontario!!! :(  Bring the camera but do carry the fishing gear as well as all valuables
due to the numerous vehicle break-ins...

I'm not sure what I am more uneasy about...walking on FN land or the possibility of an unexpected encounter with a bear!

I've walked down that side several times last fall , never was stopped once . The people there drove past me while I trekked past the place and just waved at me . I wasn't the the only one . Use your own discretion . :-\

Does anyone have a current report on this river? Is it blown after the rain or is it looking good? Heading out that way for work tomorrow and I wana know if I should bring my rod with me, or if that would be a waist of time.
Thanks

thinking of trying out the chehalis one day this week. any one been up in the canyon, or is the snow level still making it too dangerous?

Was out on Monday and water was quite low considering the rain that was falling in Langley.  Oh well it as nice to fish with not many people around.  Didn't hook into any steel or cutties but had a good time anyways.

Was out yesterday in the canyon till dark. The water water falling and clearing up nice, kind of a vedder colour almost. Didn't hook anything either, but I saw a few cutties casing a couple of my offerings. It really doesn't matter if you catch anything on this river, it's just so nice compared to the vedder, no comparison in beauty, just a few lest fish that's all. I'll be hitting it a couple more times for steel before the run off comes.
