is there still a fishery for the jack springs on the thompson?? or is the run over.

lack of replies are probably telling you something. I don't fish for them but I would guess it's still full steam ahead.

Either that or few people are making the long trek because of the gas prices.

i noticed the following annoucement stating:
Thompson River:
"Effective August 9, 2008 to August 10, 2008, 06:00 hours to 21:00 hours. This
has changed from: July 25, 2008 to August 11, 2008 06:00 hours to 21:00 hours,
4 days per week, Friday to Monday only."
does this mean between aug 22 and sept 3 that the regulations stated in the freshwater salmon guide apply. therefore, you can retain four fish one over 50 cm as well you can fish every day
i tried phoning the fisheries for some clarification on the regs because i want to make sure i am fishing legally. regardless i will still be going up there to fish for rainbows.
cheers.

fishingbuddha,
If you take a look at the salmon supplyment (Freshwater) for region 3 in DFO's website, it states that from inlet of Kamloops Lake downstream to the confluence with the Fraser R., chinook jacks can be retained with limit of 4 perday from Jun 1 to Sept 17. However, it becomes a little bit more complicated if you wish to retain adult chinook as this fishery is permitted only certain dates and places (checks in-season changes and more details on the supplyment).
Hope this helps.
