for those who like using Jensen eggs,
whats your favorite colour
-
I have only used orange with a vireity of different colours of wool and had some sucess. However, at the end of last season my fishing partner started using a cherise egg with a white wool colour that had a pinkish tinge to it and was somedays outfishing my roe. If I was going to use jensen eggs I would probably stick with orange or cherise.
-
Is cherise pink?
-
is it more effective to have to egg on the line right above the hook with wool above that
or the egg and wool right on the hook
-

ya its pretty much pink

Personal preference
-
I prefer egg on hook and wool in bait loop. ;)
-
If like me you find the jensen egg wont stay up near the baitloop where the yarn is a little tip is to carry Super-Glue Locktite (the brush on variety) and put a couple dabs of it on your knot then slide the jensen over top.
-
Are jensen eggs legal to use in rivers with a bait ban? btw favorite colour orange with a whisp of green wool

superglue on mono? a corrosive agent will weaken your knot / line.
-
if you prefer the egg on the hook like I do, buy the Delta Tackle Plastic Eggs. They are more firm than the jensen eggs, and do not slide down the hook easily like the jensen eggs.
-
Problem with your jensen egg sliding down the hook ? Just thread the jensen egg onto your leader above the eye of the hook.
-
anyone ever try using spider thread to hold the egg from sliding off ?? (i mean the clear stretchy stuff of course)
-
Like FA, I simply slide the Jensen egg up so it sits above the eye of the hook to prevent sliding. In the bait loop, I usually have some wool. Pink egg/white wool, orange egg/white wool, pink egg/chartreuse wool, chartreuse egg/pink wool have rewarded me in the past. A good substitution of Jensen Eggs is small gooey bobs that measure 5 or 6mm in diameter. Most local tacklestores carry them.

A question was asked about jensen eggs in bait ban areas...the answer is that they are poured with scent in them so they are classified as bait.
Please be aware that on the stamp all single eggs are being banned (in the bait ban area) regardless off their manufacturer. Apperantly gooeybobs are a different story. We drifted with the murphy's in earl jan and thats the warning we were given.

I stopped using Jensen eggs after coming across these beauties and then developing my own eggs based on these.
No questions about scent with these and IMO and experience OUTFISH jennys byfar.

The chum absolutely went crazy for these this year. :)

Have indeed heard the New Sheriff in town is spreading the word that although the previous Gun considered Jensens OK (also the Fed's have historically informed us they're OK as well) that he doesn't, and WILL charge for their use. :o
On the other hand, I'd like to see him successfully charge anyone with using non-scented single egg imitations! Something I now use all the time. Wanna charge me for that? See you in Court! ;D
EDIT: Hey bluesteele!

Lookin' Good! Care to share just what they are?? ???
Wondering here...

Looks like gluegun made eggs... very nice blue steele.... ive used them for trout on the Birk when the sockeye are running and they work great
-
Hey Nog check this website out it gives a better explanation on how to make them then I could.

Glue eggs this year have done really well for me and my buddy. Steelhead, coho, chum, bows and dollies.
In the past I have used jensens alot but these glue eggs seem to really do the number.
Alot of times I think it's just having something a little bit different than the rest of the crowd.

so are there any currents bait bans in affect or bans against Jensen eggs on the river now or not?
-
A Conservation Officer cannot impose his own rules. So to charge people fishing with unscented single eggs is ludicrous. Just like the CO in the eastern Kootaneys that was claiming it was illegal to fish conehead flies in "Fly Fishing Only" waters.
-
How do I get that colour of glue? All I could find is white and clear. :-\
-
try M&Y or any other fly shop. Should have glue in several different colours.
-
could maybe just add food colouring to the hot glue after it is put on the hook?

This doesn't make any sense.
Jensen eggs are PVC with some scent.
So are the gooey bobs and pink worms.
The only diffence is jensen eggs are scented with anise oil which is an edible substance I guess.
