Title: 2009 Salmon Forecast
Post by: eddy on April 23, 2009, 08:09:35 AM
Has anyone seen any forecasts for the 2009 salmon run for the Fraser?
Got me thinking because I recently read a 2009 Alaska commercial fishery forecast of 190 million sockeye! :o
How many of those might make it down to the Fraser?

Here is the link to what you ask. Overall not a rosy outlook.
However as DFO says

" The Outlook is intended to provide an objective and consistent context within which to initiate fisheries planning. In particular, it provides a preliminary indication of salmon production and associated fishing opportunities by geographic area and species (a stock group). While ocean conditions have shown some improvement, it is not possible to predict changes to specific stocks with any certainty. "

Thanks MKS.
My math says nearly 11 million sockey and 14 million pinks.
Let's hope they are right.
