Title: WHALE WATCHING TOUR BOAT SINKS !!!
Post by: arimaBOATER on July 25, 2009, 12:17:41 AM
Yesterday a whale watching tour boat (home port Steveston ... Richmond BC Canada) hit something in the water & started taking on water. Aprox 15 min later it sank.  Good that a 2nd tour boat was near by which rescued the people. I've seen these boats on the Fraser River as they come or go....& I've commented that there is a real possibility that these boats will hit something big.... as these boats travel at very high speeds.  Many days when we are out boating with our Arima boat we have dodged so many logs deadheads....debris in the water. ----------- Just happy no one was killed.

Good thing there was another boat nearby as the boat sank pretty quickly. It could have been alot worse.

I think this occured in active pass... campbell bay
did they hit the rock or a log?

where are the whales anyway... spent a week in the southern gulf islands cruising around mayne, galiano, pender, prevost, saltspring, gabrolia didnt see anything this time

couple years ago saw a superpod... pretty amazing site
