Certainly not my idea of fun.
-
Maybe both. I'd do it with the proper safety gear and some training. It looks like quite a rush.
-
HHAHAHA I was soooo tempted to do that...
Figured it would be a little risky in the tube though, gotta take up kayaking ;D

Soooooo are they bottom bouncing- or Float-fishing :D ???
-
Chris: I have to say the people in the inner tubes are nuts. Those tubes get punctured by the sharp rocks and you are pretty much going to be fighting for your life. The Thompson has a very strong current, and for anyone that has fished the river it has some of the slipperiest rocks lining the river bottom. That is going to make it hard to get out if you are fighting for your life. If you are going to do stuff like that on rivers like the Thompson and you get into trouble, then I feel you should be 100 percent liable for all the costs associated with saving your sorry hide and the medical costs too.

My brother has tried that, but not on the Thompson. He said it was amazing. Now he does it every year.
I think they are a bit crazy and also having fun.
Did you go fishing while you were there Chris?
-
Where's the fun with out some risk involved? :)
-
I say crazy because they don't have a helmet...
-
thats a dangerous spot chris, i've fallen in there and it was deffinetly not any sort of fun, i started swimming for my life
-
Pretty mild water for an experienced kayaker. As for the tubers looks like something I used to do
around 20 years ago.
There just having fun in my opinion. Only gets crazy when you fall in. ;D
bluesteele

Helmet and life jacket are a must when doing stuff like this ,then its a blast.

I have kayaked harder rivers such as the Stein. Inner tubers will if they are wearing helmets and life jackets and have the experience they should be ok as well.

so true don't think i would try it without regardless of experience
-
The Thompson is lower then ever, but the guys on the tubes could be in danger. The dingys and everything else are fine.
Robert....did the entire Chehalis Canyon in a dingy when he was young...not too bright....but fun.
-
Not my cup of tea, but definately stoopid without a vest and helmet.
-
Wow those people are having some crazy fun. ;D
-
Remember it is fun, when everything goes right. Just this past week a man drowned while tubing the St. Mary's River just outside of Kimberly. Search and Rescue had to be called in to retrieve the body, and they were recommending that life jackets be worn while tubing.
-
definitly a helmet and life jacket are required on that river. then it could be a blast without worrying about life and death.
