Title: What's the Best Headlamp to Buy?
Post by: one more cast on October 02, 2009, 11:42:49 AM: Hey guys, I've been using a flashlight for far too long. ???

What's the best headlamp for fishing...best on batteries ...where would I get one.

Specific model would help me alot.

There's so many out there, in cycle shops etc. confusing.

Don't know what make is best but I would go with LED lights as battery life is greatly extended.

It's a 3 LED cluster style which has 3 lighting settings and strobe setting. The burn time is amazing, up to 142hrs on low setting. It has a waterproof housing too.

I will never buy a Petzl LED headlamp again. I had the first Tikka that came on the market. The switch became buggered and the LED's became very dimp over time.

Post by: HOOK on October 02, 2009, 03:12:08 PM: I had a RAZOR (i think it was called) headlamp which was great until i broke it :( the strap was a zipcord and fit great around your head and even worked if you stuck it around your hat. it had LED lights as well

Probably not. They are probably just walking into their spots in the dark. I know thats why I have one. Also at the end of the day as daylight ends and I need to get back out. Some of the spots I go to require a 20-30 minute walk and going before daybreak is needed. Especially during coho and cutthroat season.

Post by: Matt on October 02, 2009, 10:04:20 PM: I've got a Black Diamond head lamp and I can't see how anyone makes it through the week without one. I keep it in my truck and I couldn't live without it. Its got LED and halogen but the LED's start to not produce much light once you've used maybe 75% of the battery charge. I'd definitely get one with the LED + halogen, because LED makes a bluish light which is annoying if need to tell real colour. If you go this route, get one with a battery pack on the back, as it strains the neck if a couple AA batteries are hanging off your forehead.
