I went past the Nooksack river today on my way to Mount Baker.
Looked like a nice river, has anyone fished it before?

Use to be a pretty good river when they planted it heavy with Coho, not anymore though. Steelhead can be good the last two weeks of February but after this year the State will be closing it down on February 15th basically before it even gets good. So bottom line, unfortunately not a very good river anymore.

never fished it but sure looks an awesome river to fish. plenty of sand bars and deep channels. Most wash. st. fisherman target the Snohomish and skagit rivers...early returns of coho and chinooks in those rivers.

Yah I aree, while driving beside it it looked like a awsome river with tons of spots that were very easy to get to

dont waste your time the river is gill neted all salmon season - as for steelhead its so so your better of to go the skaigt

There are some flyfishing oppurtunities above the falls, nothing spectacular, but not too shabby, with excellent scenery to boot. The river below for anadramous species, as mentioned, has been decimated. It does look like a river that had great potential.

Lummi Indians overnet the river and out in the sound. They don't like the other two upriver tribes so they don't seem to care.
