is there something on economic numbers from fish farms so we can shove it in their faces?

2005 salmon farming in BC $214 million

I think to do a fair comparison of the benefit of farm fished vs wild the revenue from guided nature trips (bear sighting, eagles etc.) should be included.

When angler's open their wallets inregards to their hobby or sport in BC it really has quite a ripple effect. From taxation to giving alot of people a salary.
Also when 1000's of angler's are spending the mast amount of hours fishing it keeps us from doing "bad things" like crime.
So we save the gov. alot of money freeing up the police courts & corrections.
Maybe we should introduce sport fishing as rebilitation. ;D
The millions sport fishermen/ladies spend yearly are "not small potatoes".
-
The side effects might be that fish meat shops` revenue will drop (because family memebers no longer want to eat fishes starting from the ones we caught )

I read this article in the Sun and I would say any business that gets a $21.00 return for every $1.00 invested is pretty solid and worthy of spending a few more $$$$ on.

These numbers only serve to confirm what most in the sportfishing industry allready know and have been trying to get the gov to come to understand for years now,but it seems our gov doesn't want to do much to help sustain or build our declining salmon and steelhead stocks,as a result if we continue to travel the road we have been and our fish stocks go the way of the doe doe bird as I'm sure they will, many communities and small businesses will begin to suffer and disappear and as a result the loss of billions of dollars and jobs and this is not saying what effect this will have going up the food chain to the animals that depend on our salmon and steelhead to survive. One example of how much our gov thinks about our stocks ,you don't have to look any further than the region 2 steelhead biologist that as of this coming march will no longer ex-hist,we better enjoy our local steelheading while it lasts because with decisions like this there wont be any fish to catch, fish farms or not.
