I think I will catch my first one next week. ;D ;D
hook maybe...if past events are any indication you will lose it before it hits the beach :D
Am I doing something wrong. Tried to watch vidios but nothing would happen asked for name and password then press ok and would ask for same info again.
Lovely day in the Valley today, 6 Celsius, sunny and the water looks very fishy. ;D ;D
Cant wait no longer, Tomorrow will be the day. Hopefully you havent gone through all the log jams yet... ;)Hopefully heading out on tuesday. need to go fishing....I dont care if I hook into anything lol..just need some river time
Question about water clarity when water is crystal clear should you go bright or dark color for the float? same goes for the presentation? or does it make a difference. Also can the fish see the weights and get spooked ?
Scroll down to the Chilliwack River section and you'll find the answer to hatchery marked trout retention:
http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/fish/regulations/docs/1011/fish-synopsis_2010-11_region2.pdf
There are no hatchery marked bull trout in Lower Fraser and tributaries.
Was out on the vedder today.. rained for the first 45 mins or so of this morning..Weather held up until 3 is when i left. Lower is quite murkey... Managed to get on a Wild coho, Second fish was lost after a few headshakes(not sure what it was), third fish i saw a flash of white and thought for sure im on a steelie. Turned out to be a chromed chum that was just starting to get bars ever soooo slightly. And as much as i would of liked to, i did not bonk it.. lmao jk ;)Yes there is a late run of chum that come in the system. One January a few years ago I caught two that were so bright I thought they were steelhead when I first saw the flash.
Nice!! Thanks Chris, might have the urge to go out tomorrow .. if it doesn't rain out there today tomorrow should be not bad eh?
The crowds will taper off come January;D ;D ;D
If any one could have an update tomorrow morning if it rained alot tonight in chillliwack or not that would be great... if its not raining there tonight than im most likely going to scope it out.Raining very hard tonight, most likely a good morning to sleep in.
Conditions now improving with visibility near 2 feet at dark.
How much visibility would there have to be. before its worth going out? not much rain there tonight or tomorrow. Might be decent ?Should be OK today but the river is high, going to check it out later, will report back after dark.
which sections of the river would be best to fish tomorrow? Not looking for any specific spots just a general direction. I really need to land my first steelhead. Last weekend I fought and landed a nice hatchery doe but when I bent over to grab her my mainline caught my jacket zipper and broke. I cried as the fish looked at me mockingly and swam away. Friday I fished all day long, had one bite, one hookup and my leader snapped 30 sec into the fight. So tonight I re-spooled, re-tied all my leaders with new line and I'm heading out tomorrow. Wish me luck :-\

Any reports on water conditions this evening. We have had a bit of rain today in the Valley but the snow level was down on the hillls. Toss up for tomorrow.
rivers is in nice shape this morning.Just going out to catch my first of the season before the river goes out as the rain has now started in earnest.
Thanks Chris, Still debating wheather to get out there after breakfast, or stay home and eat all day. :PThe Upper may be OK. :-\
darn..really wanted to do the derby tomorrow not sooo sure nowSame here, not willing to put in the long drive for a blown river. Fingers crossed for monday
Anyone know what the upper is like today?Just looked at the river and the Lower has improved to close to 2 feet now, no rain at the present time.
Just looked at the river and the Lower has improved to close to 2 feet now, no rain at the present time.
Talked to an angler by the Hydro Bridge and said the Upper is fine at this time.
i just looked around bergman and its about a foot right nowSome clay must have fell in. :o
Hows the weather out there now??No rain should be OK in the AM as fairly cool, snow level down.
[quote Cant wait til everyone goes back to work next weekToo many retired guys like us now. ;D ;D

Fuppin work, Dang ole job etc etc. Ha Ha Ha only kiddin I guess thats what makes it interesting and gives the desire to go on. Fair play to yous and enjoy it. P.S I wish I was there. ;D ;D
did you see alot of people on the river while you were out?River was alive, with anglers. :o ;D

HaHa Chris was rite the river was full of anglers, I was one of them Sun,Jan2nd The conditions were beautifull Fished the upper for 5hrs lots of guys, also I agree after today being Monday alot of us go back to work.
Fished about 5times on the chilliwack in last month and I havent even gots 1 bite lol?
I know you guys put in your time and get fish, but its kinda hard to believe some of these guys say 2nd trip.... 2nd fish,or 5th time out 5th fish landed lol, how they do that?
Thanks to this site for all the info you guys provide on conditions, fish caught, general etiquettes on the river I learned lots of good stuff from here.
Good luck to all, tight lines everyone.
HaHa Chris was rite the river was full of anglers, I was one of them Sun,Jan2nd The conditions were beautifull Fished the upper for 5hrs lots of guys, also I agree after today being Monday alot of us go back to work. You should be skeptical when people say 5th trip 5th fish... there always seem to be lots of fish hooked, especially when no one is looking ;) With some people it may be legit when they say hooked four landed two today, though with most a "hooked" usually means bottom, and landed usually means hooked for 10 seconds before it shook the hook, and caught means they fought it long enough to see it was a fish before they lost it. ;)

Sometimes it's luck, sometimes it's skill.
so.....wats the water look like?
any info on the water today?Rained all night and I see it is up close to 6 inches and still rising. I will look later for you and report back.
Anyone with any info on the vis?Looks like chris was saying its up n still rising and the 6inch part refers to the vis.
Looks like chris was saying its up n still rising and the 6inch part refers to the vis.I will have a report in a couple of hours. I was referring to the water levels at the Crossing as it has gone from a low of 2.08 on the gauge to 2.20 when I last checked.
I got the itch to go fishin again.
good luck all.
Hey Chris checked at the crossing just before 4pm vis looked to be about 6inches, ugly milky grey and still rainingYes I thought it would get worse, heavy rain warning for tonight, tomorrow a write off.
Time to lengthen the leader. ;DBeauty Rod ;)
Time to lengthen the leader. ;DSaw that in action today doing a nice sweep. I thought the topic of TOW'ing was gone for a few months. ;D ;D ;D
Blue sky now so will be good by, Monday, for the retired folksI'll be out there...I enjoy having weekdays off when it comes to fishing. First trip this season, fingers crossed
Stoked for my first trip tomorrow. Finally get to fish my pin after waiting for warranty on my rod during the fall. Most difficult decision is where to start first tomorrow morningFrom just above the Crossing and then down, dress warmly as it will be very chilly first thing as well the NE wind will be blowing in the Lower. I am going to start much later when everyone is frozen and gone home. ;D ;D
From just above the Crossing and then down, dress warmly as it will be very chilly first thing as well the NE wind will be blowing in the Lower. I am going to start much later when everyone is frozen and gone home. ;D ;DI will definately be bundled up for the chilly day. Get to enjoy my islander and retire my super silex :D
Hope you get one on your outing, you will enjoy the pin I am sure.
From just above the Crossing and then down, dress warmly as it will be very chilly first thing as well the NE wind will be blowing in the Lower. I am going to start much later when everyone is frozen and gone home. ;D ;DIt was really nasty with that wind yesterday, but there still seemed to be no lack of people out on the river. You'd almost think there were still coho in for the amount of guys out. ;)
Hope you get one on your outing, you will enjoy the pin I am sure.
I was thinking about heading out tomorrow before the snow starts to fly. Does any one have a water condition report from today?River has come down and the water a nice green colour. It was freezing cold today. Had my eyelets filling with ice and had my reel freeze up. I didn't see anyone else on the river until after 9am and even so very few anglers. It's slippery out there so be careful, I'll post a photo of the river from the crossing when I get a chance
how does the water look?Sorry I did not get a look at it yesterday but will later today.
just checked at lickman road 1.5 to 2 feet of gray green vis. will be out by 12ishDarn and I was just going, serves me right for not getting there sooner, getting lazy in my golden years. :-\ :(
any recent report about the river condition???I went out for the last hour of the day and visibility was about 14 inches when I left. Not one angler in sight or a fish either. :D
thanks!!
I see the river gauge at the Crossing is up a foot so conditions will not be good out there for a few days.Any guesses how the upper river (round Borden Creek) will be on sunday
Just took a look at the river and it has now improved from yesterday to around 1 foot of visibility.Yes! hoping tommorow no blow out.
Yes! hoping tommorow no blow out.Should be OK if it does not rain although heavy rain warning in the forcast. It feels like Spring out there now as quite mild with most of the snow now gone. I also noticed my wife's daffodils starting to emerge.
Thx for updates chris.
Just took a look at the river and it has now improved from yesterday to around 1 foot of visibility. Thanks! sounds alot better hows the weather?
Thanks! sounds alot better hows the weather?Mild, no wind and dry so far today.
Mild, no wind and dry so far today.I know you said its clearing but is it dropping much :-\
I know you said its clearing but is it dropping much :-\Not much, keep an eye on the river gauge at Vedder Crossing.
Should be at least another week before it starts coming in shape again , that is if it doesn't rain heavy for to long .But lots of rain in the forecast , so maybe a couple of weeks ?
went out for a hour or so today, and to all who didnt go you didnt miss anything, it was MUD. But got to see sum big trees floating down, its a diffrent river already, my favrouite runs almost gone. :'(i was in the upper
According to the water level chart this is the highest it's been in the last 3 years. :o
I just hope it stops raining soon so those that live near the river can sleep easy. The way the river is rising it must be huge right now.Its huge.
Its huge.
I herd that some people are on flood alert, I hope that changes.Where was that? It was not that high yet.
Where was that? It was not that high yet.
Saw it on facebook from someone that lives there. I hope they where wrong though.Maybe a bank is weaking somewhere.
I see there is still a rainfall warning for Chilliwack. Another 25mmNot raining now but warm West wind. It got to 14 C here today so melting the snow up high too.
Someone take a picture so we can see what it looks like now.
The Rotary Trail has been closed due to massive amount of water flowing down the Vedder River at the moment! So there you have it fellow anglers who are wondering about what the river looks like right now!>:( I was hoping to fish it all this week! Time to look for alternate flows.::)
From another site:Thanks I dont know how to post pics on this site... LOL

anybody know if thurston meadows campgrounds still there or flooded out, as going for a fishing weekend there on thursdayI am sure it is OK.
I was just down there, and it's still high but it's dropped quite a bit, there is shore access again in some spots...it's not totaly brown anymore it's more of a grey color...There was a bunch of people fishing sweltzer creek where it dumps into the vedder, because the water is clean there...very crowded..heres a updated pic from a hour ago.

i hope the rain holds off and dosent blow the river out for sunday, need to get out there :P lol dont wanna wake up again at 5:30 am to do a 75min drive just to find out the river is basiclly flooding and mud >:(Than you re think, and make a nother or a nother short drive and just keep fishing, couse there is other options than the vedder, and its not just one river there is a few. ;) ;D
Than you re think, and make a nother or a nother short drive and just keep fishing, couse there is other options than the vedder, and its not just one river there is a few. ;) ;Dlol i know just its the closest river that produces, and 90% of the time i get one :) but always catch and release, Ill probly be going just cus, and my dad already booked the day off and he hasnt gotten a steelie in 3 years :P i think hes tired of seeing me catch em
Haha I know the feeling Coho man and Steelie-slayer youre not alone.i think everyone wants to get out there ;D I havnt been out in 3 weeks :( Damn i cant wait till i get my licenece ::) only one month left

As soon as it clears up for a day or 2 maybe 3 BAM! heavy rain and snow.
Big thanks to Chris and the guys who post a pic of the river from time to time saves us driving out there to find choclate milkshake rapids.
The weather will get better and think how many fish are in that river now hehe, more fish than anglers.
Cant wait till she improves.
Its gonna be sweet! glad to know I aint the only one that wants to fish really bad.
i think everyone wants to get out there ;D I havnt been out in 3 weeks :( Damn i cant wait till i get my licenece ::) only one month leftwhy would he leave the Vedder if he hooked 10 steelhead in a hour or two? ???
and yes the river is loaded with fish right now, my dads buddy was up where borden creek and the chilliwack meet and he hooked 10 steels, and landed 7 of em there in like a hour or 2 this morning, but then got a 17 lb beauty hatch and then went to the challis :o and said its worse so came home, he figures sunday will be decent up top if it dosent warm up alot to melt the snow in the mountains
I hope you know that if you retain a steelhead on the Vedder you must stop fishing.
people keep asking this. the river is sh*t and will most likely be out into this coming week. Has anyone noticed that the graph is flat lining? even bumped up a little with the rain yesterday, it is not clearing up and is still very very fast. The visibility from Ranger run up yesterday was about 2'-3' but below that pretty chalky and terrible below Slesse.Looks like the clay slides have opened up again. :(
Slipped out for the last part of the day and saw 4 landed. Visibility was around 18 inches.thanks chris makes me hopefull for tommorow, where were you fishing at
thanks chris makes me hopefull for tommorow, where were you fishing at

Rumor has it you were seen above the Tamahi today? ???You found lots of furniture, how about fish?
Chris I spotted some heavy appliances disgared on the backside of osbourne road. I also found found another dumpsite just above Tamahi bridge, It looked like someone threw out a child day care, all baby related things. Ill post a pictures sometime.
Rumor has it you were seen above the Tamahi today? ???Did not fish today. Thanks for the info on the garbage, we will get it on our first cleanup in April. I cleaned up a pile of garbage in the middle of the road just above the Hydro Bridge after church today. It was spread all over the road, no one had bothered to pick it up and were just driving over it. ??? People were laughing at me picking it up in my church clothes. ;D

Hey guys I guess you can say I'm fairly new to the fishing game had fished as a kid with my dad but just recently got back into it with all the nice fishing we've had lately like the sockeye run we;D.....I've only tried fishing the vedder a hand full of times last year since the salmon run and man i gotta say its pretty tough out there lotta people some good some bad with no manners and attitudes and some that are very helpful i guess it kinda comes with the territory lol but been chasing these silver bullets(steelhead) for sometime and no luck have yet to try the vedder again soon but with all this crazy weather and plus the 80min drive anyway just wanna give a shout out to all my fellow fishermen to keep up the good work and hope to cya out on the river soonIf your really set on catching a steelhead , cement slab always is holding fish plus waters alot cleaner, just a busy run. The trick to being succsefull in the steelhead game is cover lots of water, and watch other guys to see where there getting fish because steelies will often sit there, and just watch to see if they miss any spots, and if it you want to fish it just fish something diffrent then what they were using, it may be chanllenging for a newbee but once u find a fish you will start to develop you own little route which u will know like the back of your hand and almost always get into some steel ;D
Your a good soul Chris, pritty soon some good karma will come your way, maybe a 20lb+ you never know ;Dwhen you get that 20+lber you better be holding on,its the fight of your life,
when you get that 20+lber you better be holding on,its the fight of your life,

Well lets see :) Was it a Vedder fish?yes it was, a big old coloured buck, and ill try to dont even know if the camrea works anymore its been frozen and wet many times

oh thats like a punch in the stomach cus it was actually starting to clear and drop finally, now really who knows when the rivers gonna be back to normal :(Might be a while as the high water has probably disturbed the clay slides once again. :(
Might be a while as the high water has probably disturbed the clay slides once again. :(I heard they were working on them 2 days ago but i think that was only the one round sleese, I know of atleast 3 more slides :(
Fished the upper yesterday 5hrs no bites lol.know where to fish and i only fish jensen eggs, and colorado blades, and sometimes ghost shrimp(rarely tho) and short float so im not loosing many hooks or weights or spending much time changing what im using, and only about a 10gram foam float so I can detect the slightest bite
Looked like jet boat jim, Hue-nut, and steelie slayer all gots fish yesterday haha How they do that?

Someone should see if there is a receipt or house address or something amongst all of that...
You'd be suprised on how much garbage has found it's way back to it's home in the early hours ........
(http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n638/Plucker420/2010129.jpg?t=1295900584)Thanks for posting the pix, where is it exactly as I think we should pick it all up before it gets washed down river with the next high water? Can you get it or I will if I get a good location of it.
Thanks for posting the pix, where is it exactly as I think we should pick it all up before it gets washed down river with the next high water? Can you get it or I will if I get a good location of it.yes it was washed down river only the scooter remains lol wudve been funna if one of the garbage bugs had lost their wallet there :P bigfisher posted up a pic up a bit
Wow that's pretty ruthless dumping all that trash some people are just careless no respect for the environment please report if u see any1 doin this kinda damage to our rivers they should be jailed >:(It always is so disturbing to see this as well so many people continue to abuse out environment in so many ways. No wonder the world is going down hill and we humans are to blame for most of it.

Thanks for posting the pix, where is it exactly as I think we should pick it all up before it gets washed down river with the next high water? Can you get it or I will if I get a good location of it.Heya Chris and others the location of that mess is just up past the tamihi bridge on the left side, not rite where there is camping with 1 or 2 outhouses its 200ft up from there.
Hey does any1 have water conditions for today thanxConditions improving every day. Reports of some good catches, there must have been as I even hooked one again today as I lost my second in as many days. ::)
Conditions improving every day. Reports of some good catches, there must have been as I even hooked one again today as I lost my second in as many days. ::)
Rodney and I found water conditions satisfactory today for a full day of steelhead fishing with a more detailed report if time permits under fishing reports. ;D :)
Now thats not nice Chris, leaving us all hanging like that and teasing us ;D Searun and I hope to be out your way for the weekend so hopfully we will run into you so I can give you a couple of those cork floats.Nearly done the report. ;D
First time steelheading today. Caught my first steelhead this morning on a fly I tied myself - 10 minutes in and halfway through my first run, about a 10lb hatch. Tried to do the elegant thing and land it with the net but it spat the hook at my feet while halfway out of the net and took off. No more action for the rest of the day until I went back to the same spot about 3:30, and picked up this hatchery buck. Didn't mess about with this one and got it straight onto the bank!!!!That's awesome good job man hopefully my luck is as good as yours have yet to catch one of these monsters on my first outting to the vedder this sunday
Weighed it at Freds was 6.95lbs so not a huge one, but happy to have been so lucky on my first trip, and pleasantly surprised that you can catch steelhead on a single hander with a $40 type 6 sink-tip!
tried going out this afternoon around the crossing fished for 2 hrs... vis appeared to be around 8 inches when i left before dark. might try up top tomorrow!yes the upper is you best bet, above allison pools, and when u get to thurston medows the water starts loosing the green colour and going crystal clear :) got a nice little 6 lber today on a dew worm :)
How is visibility today?Sorry I did not get near the flow this morning. If not already it should be coming around as we had frost last night. Once again we have strong North East winds blowing.
Just got back, vis was 1-2 ft. in above Allison and in great shape, less then a foot at the crossing. Report to follow later ;Dhow i wanted to go today but couldn't >:( was nice out to :o
Just got back, vis was 1-2 ft. in above Allison and in great shape, less then a foot at the crossing. Report to follow later ;D
Vis was more than a foot at the crossing... Thats all I will say Chomp chompwell when i left at around 330 it was coloring up so i dunno what it looked like at dark down at the crossing but fred's was saying it was a foot or so as well.
I walked out to Borden around 830am and the water wasnt anywhere near gin clear ???I bet if you went to the top , down from the fishing boundry markers , yet above the clay bank at Borden , you would have seen the gin clear water there ;D
Got out this morning for a few hours fished from cement slab and made my way down to alisson pool with no luckfished around allison and hooked into 4 between 3 of us. nothing else the rest of the day.water was clear up top with about 3 feet below bordon.
How was the water visibility, especially in the lower river?
ha ha nope, wind picked back up around 11am ;) which made fly fishing difficult and forced me home around 11:45 seeing as when i cast it landed about 40 feet downriver every cast LOL >:(You left too early as there was no wind when I got to the river around 2.
fished below the crossing after work. fished till dark and water turned to around 8 inches of vis. when i started around 3-30 it was around 14 inchesLooks like a washout for tomorrow then. Still raining too. Should have capitalized on my last 7 changes this week as now I must wait a bit longer to improve a terrible landing record this season
At least our leafs one ;DBetter than a fish but I hoped the river would be OK for those that can only fish the weekend. Rain falling now, so I will sleep in tomorrow.
Better than a fish but I hoped the river would be OK for those that can only fish the weekend. Rain falling now, so I will sleep in tomorrow.sleeping in, now thats a good idea :) im going on sunday to upper river, it shud be ok. Got some new waders today gotta try em out :)
sleeping in, now thats a good idea :) im going on sunday to upper river, it shud be ok. Got some new waders today gotta try em out :)I would think so, I may go up that way for a look tomorrow some time as I have not been up that way for a long time, want to look at the clay slides as well.
Rollin DirtyWell that will give us and the fish a rest but sorry for those that can only fish on the weekend.
any body know how the chealas (spelling?) looks today with the chilli. blown. :(
Search Chehalis hatchery cam in google and check for your self any time. It is currently blown but could swing in by tomorrow if it cools off and the rain stops.thanks you :) wish the vedder cam still worked.
Improved during the day to around 18 inches near dark.
As always, thanks for your update Chris. You are more than welcome. If the rain holds off tonight conditions should be favourable tomorrow but there is always a chance of some clay falling in but we of course can not predict that.
It means a lot to guys who live far away. :)

Water clarity at 1.5ft this morning. Was surprised it was a clean as it was after the heavy rain. I would be out there if it wasn't for a dentist appointment. :'(
Water clarity at 1.5ft this morning.Rod, I know your eyes are younger than mine but .... 18"?? I looked about 9 am at the bridge and my guess was half that.

I hereby officially present you the unofficial Chilliwack River visibility formula:;D ;D ;D
X = C : 2
Where "X" is Chilliwack River visibility, and "C" is Chris's personal estimate. :D
For Example: X = 18" / 2 . Therefore, X=9"
Trust me, it works! :)
Very windy in the Lower, I will leave the visibilty report to Dave. ;D ;D ;DC'mon Chris, it was meant in fun :) I do agree about the wind; brutal early this morning.
C'mon Chris, it was meant in fun :) I do agree about the wind; brutal early this morning.I knew that was in fun as well.
Visibility around 1 foot in the lower, just fine for fishing. The strong easterly wind was not so pleasant.
How's the water looking, still windy?
Thanks, Nic.
How's the water looking, still windy? No wind, Spring like today. Lew got a nice wild and I lost another.
Thanks, Nic.

Actually , the water is dropping still . Came up slightly last night , but looked real good when I was out this morning , about 2 feet . Nice enough to get another . ;D

18inchs who are you kidding? ;)

I'd give it third week of January.ya that was about when it was blown bad, if the water had been clearer better vis the left side would have had a killer run
I fished until 1:30pm yesterday and our last spot of the day was mid river and the water was avery nice 3foot average visibility. was even better in the lower first thing in the morning. The rain really started coming down around 1pm and you could literally watch the water get worse every few minutes.
Heard the River was looking good today, just wondering if it will be blown out Wednesday after the 20-30mm rain forecasted for tonight/tomorrow.Yes, it will be I would try a smaller system.
Hopefully you get the "light" version of the cold that's going around. It's just some congestion and a cough. The other version is not so much fun and lasts a few weeks. Hope your feeling better soon.I have had the light version for 3 months now :P It starts gettin better then you go fishing or whatever and u gots a runny nose again
Is that what happens to people who dont floss? ;)

i imagine the river got kinda high and dirty today, witht the sun and warm weather. Here in surrey it was 21 celcius a few mins ago ;D
I doubt it was 21 degrees. Its only a couple degrees outside here in Maple Ridge. The Vedder should be fine as its been cold and the snow line should be dropping.it was 21... in the sun but 11 in the shade
Weather better hold up til at least Sunday or Monday those are my only days off gotta try out my new c4 and convergence have yet to catch a silver bullet this year wish me luck :PC4 Whats that?
Shimano CI4 spinning reel?
C4 Whats that?
River is fine, but theres more Rods then fish out there. 18 Rods fishing borden creek this afternoon, and one fish to show for. 11 Cars Parked at the large Allison pullout. ::)So thats where everyone was. A buddy of mine called me to give me an update (more like rubbing it in that I am not able to fish) and he said he has hardly seen anyone. I will let them give the fishing report ;D

I better dress warm and not forget my gloves this time.
good to know. planning on heading tomorrow and was curious how the temperature and wind were doing. I better dress warm and not forget my gloves this time.
Was snowing very hard this evening. Probs around 1-2 inches on the road and all over everything for just an hours worth of snow at dark.hmm...I'll have to decide tomorrow morning I guess. I dont have the best vehicle for getting around in the snow even with the snow tires on.
hmm...I'll have to decide tomorrow morning I guess. I dont have the best vehicle for getting around in the snow even with the snow tires on.Not much snow to speak of and no wind, yet. Check the radio reports and traffic cameras in the AM before you leave. They say the cold and wind is coming so tomorrow maybe the best of the next few. :-\
For anyone else there willing to post a road condition report later on tonight it would be greatly appreciated.
cheers
Water coloured up a little over night and looks to have come up a tiny bit.
Probably around 4 feet vis in upper, 3 in mid.
Watch the roads... Spent an hour with a guy that rolled his truck into a ditch because of a patch of ice up there.
Cheers,
Dan
just before allison? think I saw that truck rolled into the bush. I lost control coming around the Tamahi corner just after the bridge and 180'd, fortunately there was no oncoming trafficSlow down! >:(Not worth your life or others over a fish! ???
Slow down! >:(Not worth your life or others over a fish! ???
Wow thats insane roads must be pretty slick guess I'm not heading out there this weekend no snow tires ???
Slow down! >:(Not worth your life or others over a fish! ???
There is still the whole lower river to fish. Snow is accumulating only in the higher elevations....
that spun out did you have any weight in the back of your vehicle a couple of allan blocks does make a difference i have a pickup and ive spun out going 40 K around an icy corner i hope your okay must have been quite an experience one for the books
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE
I guess this is now the Chilliwack snow and road report. ;D
^ Thanks for that link mr.p, and it was nice meeting you on the flow yesterday. Although I prefer a little color, fishing yesterday and seeing the river running clear for the first time in a long time was sure nice for a change. Hopefully temps will stay relatively low alowing the snow to melt gradually without creating a mess of the river once again.

vis shoudlnt be too bad right now, its raining up here right now but not pouring and might let up for tomorrow morning/afternoon. will probably be a bit clouded tomo but fisheable.thanks :)
How was it looking out there today?
Was there heavy rainfall in the valley this afternoon, or you just making a sick joke? The flow is mint right now.I fished it till dark today.
How was the river looking at the end of the day? Still raining? Hoping to head out tomorrow. I like the rising water but if it blows out it's a long drive from Vancouver.
fished the bailey bridge area for a few hours this evening, vis was at least 3 ft. Only saw 3 guys the whole time, only thing I caught was a wicked buzz
Water is perfect in the lower river....
Does this means most fish will have moved into the upper river?there through out the entire system. fresh fish will be still entering and the rest will scarterd everywhere.
how do you guys think the river will look monday+tuesday? hoping to make my way up there with the grandfather them days. looking for a area to try (upper, lower, etc.) any tips? cheers , blackgivesway2bluedoes he have waders? if so send me a email ill tell u a couple sweet spots youll get into some fish
River was blown out above the crossing around 3pm today. Better clean up quick as its super nice out. :)
I'll say, I came down from fishing the upper reaches and took a look over Tamahi Bridge and saw the damage, uuuuugleeeee !!! :(
Is it due to a clay slide? In hasn't rain much in the past few days with the river level dropping steadily.
Hope it clears a bit before tomorrow... heading out at first light and my fav spot in mid river!!!
Fished today, Mid river was about a foot vis till the afternoon when it went to under 6 inches, upper was very clear... lower looked better than mid when I was driving home.
The river is perfect clear and low. Not even a nibble all day yesterday.
Was there a derby yesterday? So many anglers in the upper including myself.
Didn't see or hear of anyone catching anything. :-[
Where are the fish hiding?
Heya hue nut thx for the fish porn pics the other day it gave me hope.
I didn't get a bite on the river all season, it hurts pretty bad lol.
Don't you ever get discouraged when you get no bites?
Thx I see 2 vehicles as I pass Thompson park often. Hiking in there is worth it? Lol.

rivers ugly looking. from borden creek down was only about a foot of vis at dark, but above ranger run area waters still crystal clear. But fishing was good ;D
Vis was perfect right till last light in lower ???weird upper was prety bad, but it came and went was about a foot-2 feet almost 3 then would go to a foot then back to 2 ft and so on, must have been some clay fall in
At least 3 ft vis.
To anyone who lives near by or has a report on the river do you think it's gonna be fishable tomorrow or blown out? Not sure if I should give it a try or wait a few days thanxfairly cool tonight and snow level down a bit. Saw rods fishing the Lower this morning and it did not look too bad.
fished a smaller side section that no one ever fishs and landed 2 lost another and caught a white fish???were you fishing above the boundry because im pretty sure that whole river gets pounded all year ::)
steelie slayer ???were you fishing above the boundry because im pretty sure that whole river gets pounded all year ::)nope below boundry, no one fishs it tho cus its only like 15ish feet wide maybe a little bigger. most guys just cross it to get to the main section.
I see the sun is trying to shine how long does it usually take for the water to clear up?

Hehe 2" = o.k.
That's funny. :)
Kudos to you, SF. It's people like you that truly make a difference! :)
As said earlier, by all means provide the authorities with the info of the offending individual.
A hefty fine and some publicity could help the river immensely.
My hat's off to you (and a cold beer is on me if we cross paths).

good on ya for cleaning up that skids garbage. I fished across from that mess last week and was disgusted by it. I wouldve loaded a bunch of it up and dropped it off on her front lawn!
Would have, could have, didn't.
Diont be so quick to criticize next time
Judging by some of your other posts, perhaps you need to listen to your own advice.
How bout a scan of the perpetrator's phone bill and name if ya got it ? Maybe they could use a few calls and publicity . ;D
that was wrong and not acceptable at all ... should be reported to city ..... but please respect people's privacy and remove that from internet.
for all you know that copy of her address/name etc. couldve just been a sepreate thing and that the garbage might not be hers.Hey steelie slayer thx for the advice on smaller bobber usage that would probably help a lot. Lol
and how would you like it if somebody posted that up if it was yours, would you not get angry from all the phone calls angry emails?
its just not proper thing to do posting her info for everyone to see, you should have just shown it to the police
but good on you for cleaning it up.

I hauled about half this stuff away today. Not enough room in my vehicle for all of it. Hopefully someone can pick up the rest before it finds way over the bank again.
went out for a few hours before nuck's game.water was looking verry good,2-3ft vis.they did it :D
saw a few risers but no takers for me. not a lot of others out. wind and sideways rain at about 4 till 5.30 put me off the flow, and t
he vis was seriously going downhill. while leaving and driving over keith wilson noticed that the islands below were disapearing!
hopefully this turns around quickly!!!
GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!!!

river is in nice shape today ;D you can see the bottom at waist deep in the lower end.
you got any pics danny boy ::) ::)i got sum if a friend sends them
to bad they were probably above the crossing and you wont be able to fish them anymore after Saturday because the river closes above the crossing bridge and goes "FLY ONLY" below for the month of May ;D
anybody got a clarity update to post from today ?? I notice its gone up a bit on the graph so im wondering how dirty its gotten. Thanks
so you can only float fish below te crossing for may?? where is considered the crossing?
I only fish jigs in may.....with a little prawn on there ;)
You and many others...I don't even buy a license anymore...nobody checks on you anyways. ::)
as far as the fly only goes, would a strike indicator be ok with a small splittie and a fly (egg fly) ???
to anyone that is wondering, the water is mint!!! sooo nice with about 4' of vis below slesse.
Good to hear the authorities were out. :)
Would be nice if they showed up on weekends too, when all the weekend warriors and yahoos are out (including myself! :D)
I'd really like to be checked at least once this season. I fish rather often, yet never get checked...it's frustrating. Makes me wonder where does all that money we pay go?
3 feet in the canal ??? It was more then that yesterday and i dont think its rained out there has it. I agree that the water is mint right now even especially for the fly guys ;D kinda pissed im not going to be out there tomorrow >:(
What does the river look like today?Still fairly cool and not too much rain today. What time are you leaving tomorrow? If not too early I can check it for you in the AM.
Any chance it will it be fly-fishable tomorrow?
I don't have to leave very early, so yes, I'd appreciate an update in the morning. What time do you plan on leaving?
Thanks Chris.
I was thinking of hitting the road around 8:00 - to be on the river by 9:30.I will give you a report by 7:15 if that is OK.
That would be awesome, Chris.:) There you go Milo. Light rain now; wait for the Chris report.
Thanks a million!
Raining pretty heavy now.
Hey all,Tough call as there is lot's of snow waiting to come down. Fairly cool as I type; when Sidthedog and I were out around noon at the Lickman area, I thought the vis was about 10" ; I 'm hoping for a fishable day tomorrow, targetting char. Sadly, it could be over fast if we have more rain or warm weather.
Any chance we'll have a bit more time until the rivers gone for a while? It's been warming up but not sure if we're "there" yet.
