Title: Presents from the Christmas tree

--Tinsel for the Spratley comes to mind.
--Wool, feathers, beads and coloured wires
--Raffia and translucent plastics for scuds

--Maybe you should volunteer to take the tree down at the end of the season and if a few things get misplaced.. Oh well.

--just soak the underfur... not the pet... in vinegar and food colouring.

Post by: wizard on December 13, 2010, 03:06:31 PM: definitely, skaha! I always keep my eyes open for flashy looking christmas decorations that can be used for fly tying this time of year. Dollar stores are good places to scrounge for unconventional materials. Feathers, marabous and furs are common.
holographic tinsels are around.
Aso,flashy colored decorative foils can be cut into thin strips and used as bodies for chironmids. ;)
