I was given a coiled up fly line , how can I tell what weight it is ?
-
Put it on a kitchen scale? HA!
Im just kidding, but good question!
I think it has something to do with the grain weight of the last 30ft of the line, weight it (get the grain weight) and check for a chart on the internet?
I could be wrong though....

take it in to Michael & Young and ask them. alot of the time the boys (and girl) can tell you what line it is. I took an old line in that came on a reel i bought and they told me what it was right away ;D if they cant they should be able to tell you something about it LOL
