Hello fellow fishermen,
I will be travelling in Malaysia and Singapore sometime soon and would like to bring my GSM phone with me.
I am contracted with Telus but they will not unlock my phone until after 90 days from first day of activation.
Does anyone know of a place in the GVRD that will unlock a HTC Desire HD phone?

A couple of years ago i was going to Europe and wanted the same thing. Bottom line: Search ebay for 'unlocking phones" and enter your phone make and model number. I used a seller called:
Blowfish unlocks
It worked great.
Sorry to post this on the forum, I wanted to send you an email, but it's blocked.

An alternative is to buy a cheap phone and sim card when over there and risk no chance of damaging your phone.

There are tons of postings on Craigslist for unlocking phones - run around $10 to $15.
I was in the same position for a trip to Mexico a few weeks ago.
I ended up buying an unlocked older quad-band Blackberry for $40.
Bought a local SIM card for $12 and put about $20 worth of airtime on it.
Lasted me the whole 2 weeks I was there.

my phone got locked around christmas and it would have taken 90 days to unlock and restore when it unlocked.
(its a koodo iNQ) and i just bought a new simcard for 10 bucks and it was fine, and still had all my contacts and the same settings.
