What?
You expected I would write about snagging a fish? ;D
I'd never post about that on the forum (if it ever happened, which is very unlikely, of course) ::)

A nice, very nice addition to your collection Milo ;) Happy for you; please park it next to the one I traded .... See you on the 16th??

Thanks Dave. I'll show you the display when the cabinet is ready. Your ex 5001C will be prominently displayed (you should see it now that I have given it some TLC - beauty!)
I will sure be there on the 16th. I cleared my calendar for that cleanup. Missed the last two, which is out of character for me. Shall we try and make a few casts together thereinafter? ;)

Sadly, I will keep it on display. Only if you keep them in mint shape do they increase in value. It is sort of an investment...
Fortunately, I have a good number of really good modern era Ambassadeurs to use in any kind of fishing situation.

i dare you to fish with it...i double dare you! ;D

What's something like that even worth?

No fly rod?!?!

Depending on condition, accessories, rarity and year of production (the mintier and older they are, the more expensive they get) they can fetch anywhere from 300 - 3000 dollars, with some exceptionally rare models fetching up to 6 grand. It's an expensive hobby, but very gratifying when you score a beauty at a good price.

That is a beautiful ABU Ambassadeur 5000 reel what a real Gem. I sure love those old style Ambassadeur. I just recently took my Ambassadeur 6000C reel to Mike's repair to have it service and she good as new again.
I also have collection of older Ambassdeur reel these are 6000C, Special Anniversary 1921-1991 Limited Edition 6000C, 5000C and 4500C. I had my chance of buying new red 5000, green 5000D and greyish High Speed 6500C. I kick myself for not purchasing these reels back then....1970's.

I have an Ambassador 6500 which I took in to tackle shop for repairs. The guy said that's a Silver Cloud edition and that it's a collector's item. Hasn't seen the river since.

Wow... that is something milo!
I am still waiting for my dad to pass on his 5000C to me.
He is eighty and does not fish anymore, but still enjoys handling the reel once in a while I guess.
Beautiful piece of art. :)
