Title: Ex Vancouverite back in & has some questions...
Post by: fisherkingnigel on July 12, 2011, 02:12:32 PM
Hey everyone...it's Nigel from Fukuoka Japan & I'm back in Van fishing it up. I'll be here until August 9th and I'm excited to be back on my old local fishing grounds. I brought 8 rods, 5 reels and a whole other gambit of lines, lures, jigs, Japanese eyeless hooks and even my sashimi knives. So far I've hit the the Brunette River for some trout fishing and found the river was infested with blue gill. Did Whistler and fished local lakes for newly stocked trout. Traveled up to the Harrison and was impressed with Dicks Lake. Next we're going on my bud's jet boat to fish for crabs and cast a few jigs at those Capilano Coho's....so that is what leads me to my question!

Where can I get sea worms for bottom fishing? In Japan that is like a staple bait for flounder and other bottom fish.
Can we or is it recommended to fish around Indian Arm or is the back of Bowen better?

How's Rice lake up in Seymour been? I want to take my 4 year old as he's turning into quite the angler now.

Next week we're heading off to Port Renfrew for salmon fishing and other bottom dwellers. Looking forward to playing some of those big Springs

Thanks guys,

Nig

Are they the same as pile worms? If they are you find them amongst the mussles on dock pilings.

Welcome back Nigel, been a long time. ;) Rice Lake was recently stocked (last week) with 500 fish so fishing should be ok, especially if the weather stays somewhat cool as forecasted in the next few days.

I used to catch sea worms down in Stanley Park by turning over rocks at low tide.

X2 on this, but I was flipping rocks over from Jericho along to Bayswater.

Used to do same as teenagers at Dundarave pier west van, dynamite bait.
