Title: A Long Shot
Post by: D.Sams on July 12, 2011, 08:46:29 PM
A friend and I had been planning a trip up to Hicks lake for a short while now, as we have heard it can be a fun, productive lake.  Unfortunately, through no lack of effort, we have been unable to secure a canoe for rental, as we normally do.

I know it's a long shot, but if anyone out there has a spare canoe (or similar boat that would fit on the roof of an SUV) we would greatly appreciate allowing us it's use. We'd, ideally, like to pick it up Friday night and return it Saturday night.  We're a couple of genuine  guys, looking to get out and fish, and would absolutely be willing to shoot you some cash or beer, no problem.

Thanks!
-Daniel

Last time when we visited Hicks Lake (not fishing, in late May), there was a lady who was renting out canoes by the floating dock. Have you looked into that yet or are they all booked up for the days when you want to be there?

If all fail, fishing from shore should be doable, especially with so many catchable rainbows released recently.

I appreciate the reply, Rodney.  I wasn't able to ascertain any information regarding anyone renting canoes on the lake, though in the immediate region I was able to find a couple of businesses who would - they were all booked, however.

Did you try MEC? They have lots and are by far the cheapest deal around for canoe retails.

We have tried MEC, yes. Unfortunately they remain entirely booked out for the weekend in question. Thank you for responding though, I do appreciate it.
