Title: leatherman
Post by: paul1971 on December 17, 2011, 02:53:52 PM
Do you carry one while fishing and how useful do you find it?

I carry my wave with me everytime I go out. I find it super useful for split lead, cutting pencil lead, cutting line ( my dentist told me not to use my teeth ;)), or if its a keeper and I need to gut/clean I have a knife with me.
It is also handy if say you run out of or forget something like a float stopper, you can kinda maniuplate or put one together using this.

my two cents at least not sure about everyone else.

I always pack one. Many useful tools that you end up using at some point or another while out there.

Have had several Charge TTi's and a Wave.  Use them all the time, usually at least once every time im on the water and wouldn't be without it.  The Charge TTi is more comfortable in hand but hurts more when it gets lost.

It's a particular model of the Leatherman

Never on the flow without one. In fact, I am never without one on my persona - ever!
From the day I bought my first Leatherman (a humble 'Kick' that is still going strong after 8 years of service), I've never been without one.
I have one in my wading jacket pocket, one in my boat, one in my lunch box, and my key chain is...you guessed it...a  Leatherman Squirt PS4.
Not a day goes by that I don't use a Leatherman for something.

My wife liked the Squirt PS4 so much that I had to get her a girly one in red.

Best multi-tool out there.

Lost mine last year at the Cap if anyone happens to find it.  :'(

Great tools.  Own about 6 cheapy ones and no comparison.

Blade quality always impressed me the most.

Too funny, I found 1 last year on the Cap.  Email me when and where you lost it, if it's yours I would be happy to return it to you...

Use me Wave all if the time.

Really like the file on it too for touching up the hooks.

Mine is on my wading belt any time I hit the river.  And as many others have said above, it is used pretty much every single trip in some way, shape, or form.  I haven't done any upkeep on mine either, and it still works like a charm.  I wish, however, that I had taken better care of it, simply because a few of the tools on it are a little tougher to get out than they used to be.

Worth every penny.

I am still here.  Post a link to the model of leatherman you lost, if it is yours I will be happy to return it to you.  Where I found it is a place where very few others fish, and there is strong chance that this is not your leatherman.  Also, I should mention that I found it during steelhead season, February ish...

Hey that was my previous post with description of place lost not sure if you saw that or not.  No idea what model name it was.  It was a full size one no black or anything all metal.

This looks similar but mine was a touch different.  (No hole in the blade like the one on the link)

This is a link to the one that I found.  It's black, with a broken knife blade.  That's what I was hoping you were going to say, therefore I can't give it to you.  I wonder if I can get it replaced, anybody know anything about Leathermans' warranty policy?

Awesome multi-tool, but I can't take seriously a tool whose name reminds me of baby food:
