Title: Rice Lake, April 9th 2012
Post by: FreshyPT on April 12, 2012, 12:28:57 AM
I was suffering fishing withdrawal symptoms from racking up OT at work so I headed out to Rice Lake on Monday. It was great to see many young families where the parents were having a hoot with the children tossing, crossing and tangling fishing line.

There were some sippers but no takers on my epoxy chironomid so I switched up to a micro black/red leech when the sun shone ever so warm. 3 catches within the half-hour on the fly was plenty of excitement for the awe stuck children.

Late post but better than never  :-\

I cannot bare to wait to hit the interior for summer fishing!!!

Great report :). Do you a floating line and or any indicators?  I'm still trying for my first fish on the fly :)

The chironomid were fished on 3-5' leader line to a float without indicator though you can absolutely use one and the micro leech on a 3' T8 sink tip with I think a short 1-2' leader with slow wiggle retrieves. I am able to feel the bites for a hook set on my Amundsen Topfly 5WT.
