Not much going on yet, a few fish around but not big numbers yet.

They seem to have taken out more parking spots on the west side. Where else can fishermen park?

i went on Tuesday and saw construction guys being shuttled back to their cars on the east side. So now they have their own private parking but are taking up soem of the few spots that are open to the public. This year the parking will be really bad if they keep that up.

Sucks to hear that.  I was going to bring my 7 year old to the river so he can land his first salmon.  I guess I'll bring his Razor scooter along so he doesn't have to walk as far.  I need an adult scooter for myself :)

Cheer up.   The construction is only going to last six years.

So expect it to be done in 8 with the way things work in BC.
I don't mind it at all, lots of people wont make the hike to the river.
Less people means more fish for me. ;D

Actually last year, the walk was long and still crowded as usual.  Sounds like this year the walk is longer and will be as crowded as last year.

Yeah i assumed the crowds of people going there to retain nasty zombie chums would be much less last year too but if anything it seemed like more people showed up? Hopefully with an even longer hike potential it will keep some people away. Either way, with a little effort you can surely find a nice quiet spot to fish.

On the east side, there used to be parking besides the school(?), and also a spot for about half a dozen car below. These seem to have no parking sign in those spots now. So where do you park if you fish the west side? More chance for the government to take your hard earned money if you dare to park illegally. Don't care much about the zombie chums, but will be nice to get a few late coho there on flies.

last year, somehow the tow truck drivers just didn't care. We even asked him about the no parking sign. I am not sure if he knew or not, he just told us to park inside the line and you will be okay. We know first hand because a friend had to get his car towed out because his alternator decided to poop. This was the west side so naturally if a lot of cars are parked there, i think they aren't going to bother

I have seen a car being towed away.  If think if any of the locals calls into complain to the city then, they will dispatch a tow truck.  I have to give credit to the tow companies for not having a smorgasbord of tows during salmon season last year.  Most people do follow the signs, but there's always a few law breakers to be caught.
