Title: 8'6" and 9' spinning rod which is better for Coho Bottom fishing at Fraser River
Post by: target on November 04, 2013, 04:24:38 PM
Hi,
This is my first year fishing Salmon. I have a 7' spinning rod for pink salmon. My friend said I should buy a longer (8'6" or 9') rod and a better spinning reel for Coho Bottom fishing  at Tidal Fraser River. Any one know which lenght is better for Bottom fishing?
By the way, is Baitcasting better than Spinning for floating salmon fishing at Vedder River?

Regards

I have a 9' spinning outfit i bought for my girlfrind and she never used it that would be used for bar fishing for all salmon. I would be willing to let it go for a good price.

If your talking about short floating  then i would go with a 10'6" baitcast.

If you are wanting to chuck spoons, flip jigs, etc i use a  8'6" spinning for coho and still.

Personally i would never use the same rod for the vedder as i would the fraser, completely different systems. But you could probably get away with a  on that is a little under powered or overpowered for one of the rivers.
