I like to have a good bead chain swivel on my leader, I dont worry id the spoon has a swivel or not, though I leave the on generally.

Tie to the welded ring, with salmon spoons I put the weld where the spoon rides to change up the action.

I have started to attach the spoon to the flasher using a clip, as it allows me to use 1 leader on many spoons, versus having a leader attached too each spoon.

The spoon doesn't need a swivel as its motion does not cause a rotation, it more or less just flutters; and also the flasher already has 2 swivels on it, and your mainline should have a chain swivel.

I do put a swivel on the split ring before I attach a siwash hook to my trolling spoons. With just the split ring a fish can get leverage on the hook and spit it.
