Title: Are all pinks like this
Post by: Salmon__Slayer on September 17, 2015, 01:06:35 PM
Was fishing my secret river yesterday for pinks . Saw a school of about 50 clean healthy fish swimming through 2-3 feet of water . Castes out a float with some wool but not even one bite. I had roe
At home should I change up next time thanks !

I think you may be expecting too much ...it's called fishing for a reason and not catching .
many factors could have been in play, mostly the fish may have seen you and become spooked wich is usually the #1 reason for not catching.
Roe is among the last things I use to try to catch pinks I find other methods to be much more successful for this species.
try fishing waters that are deeper than 2 feet you will likely have better success

jigs, flies, jensen eggs also work. Just cycle through everything in your tackle box.  Also try fishing without a float too, using spoons, spinners... eventually you'll get a biter.  Sometimes when they've seen too many of the same lures or are to busy worried about getting to there and spawning, they just don't want to bite.

How would you target a Spring specifically! And aren't they called Falls now?

Actually they're all Chinook.
Spring is a name that has stuck however and refers to the the early runs (in the spring).
Same specie just different run timing.

Fast, deep water (usually too fast for the pinks to hold in).
