Perusing youtube for coho videos these evening, I stumbled upon this one. The first fish he releases - he says it is a wild coho, but it sure looks like a colored up Cultus sockeye to me. He said it was wild but it's hard to see. I wish the video was higher resolution.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9_e2D_gItc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9_e2D_gItc) Let the species identification argument begin! ;D

Sockeye

Well it’s a sockeye no doubt, but maybe a Chilliwack sockeye, not a Cultus?

Maybe, but it appears to be late in the season, and the coloration looks more dull than the Chilliwack Lake fish. Was 2013 the year with a huge return of Chilliwack Lake sockeye? I don't remember when that was.

It's too late to be a Chilliwack Lake sockeye. Cultus Lake sockeye encounters are not unusual in November.

Coho with a green head.
I've caught Cultus lake sockeye above the lake too.
