Post by: lucky on September 06, 2004, 06:12:35 PM
me and the gf took the boat out of cates park today , came home with 5 decent red rock and three dungees, 10 nice size flounder , a greenling about 12" and a few tommy cod, my girlfriend caught the biggest tommy cod i have ever seen, measured it when we got home and it was 13"!, also we dropped a prawn trap in about 100' of water because i didnt have any more rope, and got 5 prawns, and one time we pulled it up there was three big bullheads in there, im certain they must have ate a few of my prawns

Closed for lingcod, opened for sole, flounder, cod (true cod, not rockfish). Daily quota for rockfish is 1 in Area 28 unless there are specific closures.

Daily quota in Area 28

Greenling = 3
Sole, flounder = 8
Codfish = 8

I killed it because I wanted to eat it,   they taste rather good, and to my knowledge a 13" tomcod is rather large.

the sign is for crabbing and fishing off the dock. there is a date on the sign  in which there is no fishing nor crabbing is permitted off the dock.people interfere with docking and launching of boats , the dates should be the summer months.between may and october .

One time I was down there with my nephew and there were two separate signs with two separate dates when you cannot fish or crab from the dock. Confusing to say the least.

you can start fishing off the dock, nov.15 I believe, I personally think they should shut all the government docks for a while, not only for the summer boaters but it takes the pressure off the fish and crabs, everynight I have been dogfishing at ambleside in the past few months I have noticed people poaching crabs, and I mean everynight, I have called the hotline, but never seen a dfo show up there, I find it kinda sad that a peir like ambleside , right on the ocean is totally cleaned crab

I stopped fishing at ambelside after I heard about all the sewage contamination in the area.  Only thing i'd keep from there now are migratory species that dont spend much time there....like coho!

LOL!!! You are kidding right?  You sound like a kid but being young and ignorant is not an excuse especially if you know you are violating what the sign says.  If a CO came along and gave you a ticket is the about reasoning what you are gonna use to defend yourself? ??? ::) ??? ::)
