Can you say Hunting Season ? I'm starting to think this may be a logical solution. Although the paintball thing is quite entertaining, and probably just as fun.

I find it somewhat scary that a seal/lion can take down a sturgeon. Has anyone seen/heard of this happening in BC ?

I got "sealed" this past summer, and it was quite an unwelcome surprise, not cool. We had a fight with a 1700 lb sea  lion and won (fish was "released" as unharmed as it could be, more to the point, our line snapped, the lion let go, and it swam away...not sure how long it would have lasted).

yeah, the strenght that sealion shows, tossing that sturgeon around...wow amazing.and the first bit when they race the seal to the boat, the seal killed that salmon with one bite to the head, luckly they got it in.

Last weekend I was over at my father's place in Bowser on the Island. I went trolling for springs the first day, got skunked except for two ling cod that I released. Sunday morning I finally hooked a spring off Tribune Bay. I had it within 6 feet of the boat, it looked about 8-10 lbs. It took one last dive and BOOM! Mr Seal took a hold. After a reel screaming 10 minutes, the line went slack, I reeled in half a spring head. Damn seal took my barbecue meat!

a friend of mine use to guide out of tofino.he use to say the seals would lie n the rocks suntanning,as soon as your reel would would start screaming(with a fish on)2 or 3 would slip into the water and have a go at your fish, then climb out for more sunbathing til the next reel went off.

I should take a paint ball gun to the fraser to chase away those pesky anglers that try to get too close to my spot  ;D  Imagine the fun in August if that caught on  ;D
