Title: Lower Fraser, Richmond September 20th
Post by: Rodney on September 20, 2005, 11:01:01 AM
So this morning I dragged myself out of bed at 7:00am finally and managed to get to the river before the tide peaked. I was looking for some solitude, but only to find my secret spot crowded by people who had also lost their sanity. ;D gman was already spinning away before work, Fish Assassin was also on site. A few fish were rolling, I did not waste anytime to get some casts in.

Soon after I started, gman was into a fish, which he landed minutes later. I had one on briefly while everyone else was looking away. ::) After gman left, I landed two bucks that were in very good shape but did not fight as hard as I expected near the beginning.

Small schools of fish moving in once again, but outings can still be productive. :)

Few things to remember

Rodney, try the Vedder (particularly around the Keith Wilson Bridge) if you want solitude. ;D

No secret spots. Move around and find the fish. What was producing this morning may not this evening and vice versa.

Its the Fraser River their are no secret spots. The fish have to move up river so just find a spot where it looks like a good place to cast from. Its as simple as that. I was under the Mission Bridge today from 3-5pm got one nice crome 6lb doe and had another one on but lost it.

Brownsville was poopy as well today.  Went around 9 ish this morning and saw two landed and two hooked, one of which was mine.  Drove around looking for other spots along both arms of Fraser and returned a couple hours later to see if anything had changed.  Fished another couple hours and saw another two get hooked but none for me.  Slowest day yet I've found..Anyway, not to worry.  Up the valley we go tomorrow.

If you see fish jumoing and rolling then fish there.

Yes but sometimes like today I saw 2 fish jump in the 2 hours and nothing else. It doesnt mean that they are not there when nothing is happening. I got into a couple today despite the limited surface action. Some people wont fish because they see no action and thats a mistake.

Well, i did the usual, fished the usual spot around 4pm with my dad.  Dad got skunked and I caught and landed 2 doe and the guy beside me landed a chum.  I was surprised to see that, well anyway was quite slow after the 2 fishes was landed, which is around 5pm.  :D

Fished 5.30 - 7.00pm, landed one doe, saw two others landed during that period. About 10 people fishing the stretch that I could see.  A few pinks rolling, but otherwise quiet.
