Title: Vedder fishing Oct30
Post by: scottm on October 30, 2005, 04:26:53 PM
We got to the upper river around 6:45am we worked up and down the river for 5 hours my buddy was rewarded with 2 hatchery coho 8lb & 4.5lb both does.I got skunked again, there were alot of chum and the odd spring but they were a little ugly.I guess i can't complain in 7 trips to the Vedder i have got 5 hatchery. There were 3 other hatchery coho bonked while we were there all fish were chrome, you really have to work for them this year.

Yeah, I decided not to go today.  Yesterday's fishing was really slow.  I did not get 4 hatchery coho yesterday.  I fished 7 hours yesterday to get 2 hatchery coho ans 2 jack spring.

Something must have happened to the fish destined to return to Vedder/Chilliwack River.  There are very few of fish returning.  My estimate is that returning coho this year is less than 10% of last year's return for the month of October.

I love using colorado blades a slow retrieve through a nice pool produces well,i have done up over 300 #4 smooth silver blades i just have not got around to putting them in the buy&sell section of the site but i was thinking of charging $1 per blade or $10 per dozen. What do you guy's think of that price?

Arrived at Tamahi fished from 9:00am to 2:30pm caught nothing but chum. Well at least it's not big fat zero like last 5 trips ;D

How can you make them for 30 cents?  It costs me more than 30 cents just for reasonable low end hooks???? Split ring 5 cents , swivels 5-10 cents and blades around 25 cents and up.  Those prices sound pretty good to me.

I was up in the top end at first light on Sat. with the bronto and my dog and we hooked a bunch of various sized springs, but no coho's. The guy above me got one nice (8 or 9lbs hatch) but that was all we saw all morning. Blue out!
