-
were you fishing the canyon? ???
-
Maybe. ;)

Is there hatchery coho above the hatchery? or all hatchery cohos will return into the hatchery?
-
Yeah the water looked perfect today. But there was a missive amount of chum now in!!!!! They were pretty hard to work through!!!!! I got Skunked for Coho today!!!!!! Might have had one on, but it was off so quick I wasn't sure!!! But did get some pretty decent chum including one monster!!!!! About 25lbs. But as for coho, it was slim pickens for me today. In fact I only saw one landed!!!! There were a ton of chums at dewdney today as well. No coho there either!!!!!! At least not while I was there!!!! But Have to keep at it!!! Not sure what to do tomorrow!!!! :-\ :-\
But the rain stayed away so that was a good thing!!!! ;D ;D

with a vast majority of the water cutting into thew bush at the bible camp, most of the fish bypass the hatchery I would assume.
Even when there was good water in front of the hatchery, still many hatchery fish traveled far beyond it. I know fish can find their home rivers but I doubt they go right back to the exact location they hatched from.

Sockeye salmon will return within 3 meters of the exact location they were born. I learnt this in my fisheries technician course. ;)
-
Sockeye is amazing. They travel the furthest to spawning grounds right?
-
some times i wish i could sleep witha fish
-
I don't quite know what to say to that!!!!! ;D ;D
-
lol ::)
-
For those of you who don't believe me check it out for yourself it has been proven. ;D
-
What the heck are you talking about Mark ? ;D ;D
-
Sockeye are the most amazing of all the pacific salmon they are the most determined species. They do travel the futhest and end up almost at the exact location of birth. How they do this is a mystery but at the same time sockeye have been proven to return to their birth place within a 3 meter radius. I learnt this in my fisheries course. ;)

That's very interesting about the socks. They are amazing fish. I never knew about their homing instincts. I always thought the Fraser chinooks travelled the furthest, as I've seen them at Rearguard falls near Mount Robson. If you follow the Fraser on a map you'll see that'a a swim and a half. Maybe the socks make it up there too but I've never been there at the right time of the year.
-
I'd have to look it up but the Chinnok returning to the Teslin river in the Yukon travel in the neighborhood of 2300 miles.

You bet ya pinhead.....indeed that was troutboy.. I feel sorry for him. The kid has never caught a salmon in the mouth in his life...he should be learning not causing trouble
-
The roe kid is a very skilled fisherman... and is much better then trout boy.... he catches fish in his sleep.. and doesnt want to sleep with tejm
