By the way you said you were gona try those hooks if so how did they work for you?
-
oh ya! i caught my first hatch Ho on it ;D i completely forgot that i attached a size 6 DNE hook on a #2 nickel blade. i was just too excited that i caught that Ho. maybe that's why i didn't lose it ;) i know that the point is really sharp and it didn't straighten out with the 6lb Ho. so far so good. maybe you should give it a shot and see for yourself :)

new DNE in barbless. soon to be at your local tacle shop.
-
Sitting on my desk right now the barbless ones have some kinda weird grove near the point whats that all about?
-
dude i believe it's to give that razor sharpness to it, something like the needles they use for sewing?
-

Where you work? And yes the DNE's are the best on the market in my opinion right now. I talked to the sales representative today and he gave me some more samples including their new barbless ones that will be available within the next few weeks. They have razor cutting points and a indent without a point that makes them barbless when they act as if it's still there. If the fish strikes hard theres no chance of it getting off with these ones. 8)

And you work in the fishing department ? You should have the answers. ;)
-
yah exactly. but what would you expect from Army and Navy, gotta go to the real shops lol.
-
Hey guys
I know the sales represent for DNE Fishing Hooks company. 8)
and I have talked to him either in Vedder today. I saw the hooks in few fishing stores in Vancouver and the price is cheap. It is around $2.65 something. And the quantity in one pack is more than Gamakatsu. I think it is a very good deal for the hooks since the quality of the hooks is high. ;D

Hey IH8,
Gear down on the Army and Navy cut-up. I do the hiring for this company. This company is working hard towards getting the products and service that you expect. No it is not a pro shop, but since we made fishing experience a mandatory requirement 4 mos. ago, We have improved dramatically in terms of knowledgable service. We show instructional video's, give discounts for large purchases, post all relevant fishing information, sell live bait, and spool line for our customers. Sounds closer to a pro shop than a department store to me............
If anyone has any comments or questions, please pm me.

Actually way back when I started salmon fishing in the chuck (15 yrs ago), A&N was the place to go! I remember buying charterboat fishing line (cheap but it worked), buzzbombs, crabtraps etc.. Glad to see that they are committed to better customer service.
ps. I only go to wally world and crappy tire when I really need something and the others are closed. I would never ask for any advice.
-
Yeah, hard to believe the company is 87 years old (A & N) !!. Canadian owned and operated too!!! :)
Thanks for the positive feedback Doug ;)

ive used them, got a couple packs to sample. great hooks, ultra sharp points

when my brothers and i were kids and started getting into fishing, the only place my parents could afford to buy us fishing gear was at Army and Navy (Downtown). i loved going there, they had the best selection of gear for fishing the chuck.
they were a great discount store. unfortunately, times have changed and so have their pricing policy. :(
-
Wrong answer! I will tell you our policy. Show me a cheaper price, and I will beat it. Yeah times have changed, and we do not have the buying power of a wal-mart, but guess what?...................................... To the fisherman who use this site, remember this.
We give discounts on large purchases.
We offer the best department store service anywhere
Our staff fish!
The langley store has a "new fly tying materials" section that rivals anyone.
We are making changes to meet your needs. If you have a suggestion, phone me # 514-1774
