Well, I went to a local river, which does have a name, and that would be the Stave. I like to make one or two trips a season, as I fished it a ton back when i was younger and before the gong show really started. Anyways, went on foot today and strolled past all the people within a two minute walk of their cars, found myself all alone. I picked up one hatchery coho buck on a blade that was a little skunky, so he got flicked off promptly. Fishing the froggy water produced no more fish as I only spotted a handful of colored coho, so I went and fished some edges near the swifter stuff. Picked up a nice 16" wild cutthroat on a Jensen, nice surprise, but when I saw the chrome I was hoping kisutch. Oh well. Still a billion chum up top, as well as a few springs from the looks of things. Also many bottom bouncers and snaggers up  top, I try to avoid them, but had to have a word with one family who had a boot spring laying in the sand and then picked up by its tail before and attempted release. Maybe in two weeks or so the crowds will be thinned, head back for some late coho and cutties.

a gong show is a collective and often crowded wanton display of unethical fishing conduct...according to websters  ;)

The gong show is the display of angling ethics that can be seen on the Stave in teh vicinity of the Ruskin day use area and near the dam in Oct/Nov of any given year. I believe it started about 8 or 9 years ago and coincided with openings for chum retention that brought out people for whom getting some kind of meat was their only concern.

Is the Stave been good in a while or are there no ZCoho left there?

Are most of the coho turned in december ??? ???

Yes, MOST of the coho are turned in December.

thanks for the explanation. was at the stave today .. chum after chum after chum. pretty bad shaped ones too. no sign of coho
