Hi,
I live in Vernon but have only been here a few months after moving from the UK.
I don't know if you are out looking from a boat or the shore Prettyfly? I'm guessing the shore from what you wrote.
I tried to go out and do some spotting last weekend but I'm stugling to find suitable areas where you can get shore access - but then I don't know the lake - perhaps you could point me in the right direction?
I went to the beach at Okanagan landing and realised that was not a good spot and then headed round the lake to the rigth hand side (as you look down the lake) towards what I think was called "Adventure Bay". Now apart from the public boat launch I came across nearly all the shore was privately owned so no access.
If they exist on Okanagan lake I was hoping to find some weedy shallow bays as I think that'll be the best place to find the Carp as we are heading towards spawning time (still abit early right now but I want to find some spots before that time arrives), do you know of any such areas?
I'm not wanting to steal anyones "secret spot" but you'd save me a lot of time by pointing me in the right direction - if you might be so kind.
I've fished for carp all my life in the UK so I know the species, I just don't have the knowledge of the water to find the sort of water I'd like.
Failing that I'll just have to rent a boat and spend a day searching the water till I find what I'm looking for - if it exists.
If you (or anyone interested in the species - I know plenty of people don't like em' out here) fancy some company on a Carp session I'd be good to meet up sometime, although I'd have thought it best to wait till the water warms up a bit, but maybe these Okanagan Carp are a bit hardier than their UK counterparts?
all the best,
cheers,
Paul.
