I'm from the states and have heard that the Frazer, especially bar 22 is bad. That said i have fished the Vedder many times, I come up nearly every week sometimes twice during steelhead season. I always walk back and am relieved my truck is fine. ( knock on wood)...Woodys drive in will let you park in his lot if he likes you and you talk to him and eat lots of those excellent mushroom burgers..

But seriously, on two of my last fishing trips south of whatcom county, Squire lake and Clear lake I've had my truck and my friends brand new F350 broken into. Last trip to Clear lake there were people all over the place and the ba$tards ripped off all my buddies rods, reels and wife and daughters purses. I felt lucky as i only lost my wader bag, rod case and misc. cloths. I WILL one day catch one of these methheads and i carry a special friend for that...Don't punch these guys out or their teeth could come out on your fist and you could end up with something un-cureable...

I would hope is has nothing to do with the threads on "other" fishing sites which seem to take great pleasure in ripping our American a$$es over our "war mongering" ways right Nicky? At least i would hope that's not the case...though that wouldn't surprise me too much either, lots of hard talk from behind computer screens but face to face is another matter with these creatons.

i wonder how much it costs to hire a security guard for a day from a company....between 6 or 7 guys it might be worth it to bring him out fishing to watch the vehicles :)

This is from JB at Sharphooks.com on July 27th
Two days ago I went fishing at Laidlaw Bar and landed few Socks but no Springs. The day was somewhat slow with only three springs having been pulled out for period of 12 hrs. Not only did I have a shitty day in fishing, but also had my car broken into. Six other cars were broken into and had their passenger windows smashed, just like mine. So, be aware of certain assholes out there. Not sure what they were after as nothing was stolen out of my car. All CDs, stereo and works remained untouched.

Today, however, was a different story. There was about dozen if not more fishermen and everyone had landed at least four Socks and almost everyone got a decent Spring out of it. I landed a 42 pounder and have lost another monster that snapped my 20 lbs leader after burning my thumb I was holding my main line on the reel with.

Tight lines!!

Just to throw in my two cents.Firstly I know from experience that the people doing the dirty work are not specifically targeting our American cousins. As I am certain most visitors are aware we do not have a monopoly on crime here. That said it is particularly odious that some low life would ruin any visitors day as it can reflect badly on all of us.
We all fight this in our own way.Last week at Laidlaw I noticed an occupied van sitting near the lot. When I entered the bush he got out.Quite surprised he seemed when I came right back out to talk to him! After mumbling some thing about "is this the Fraser?"he got back in his old brown van.I watched for awhile until he left.No problems that day but any place that is accessable to us is also to them.
Unfortunately there is also a fringe element that thinks if they destroy recreational fishermans property it will someone how aid their political cause.Of this is just the worst type of stupidity and only puts gas on the fire.

Good question, when I find that $$$$ hole I'll let you know. Sentence structure could have been  a little better. I should have said, it cost him big $$$$ for repairs to his vehicle.

Yeah, and when you find it... make sure you post a good report ;)    I was just injecting a bit of levity into an all to serious problem :(

My postal lady was on the Vedder camping (American) and some friends came up and they went over to the Chilliwack Rec. Center to swim. The other couples truck was broken into and attempted to steal. They broke out the lock on the steering column and ended up disabling the truck. The couple had to leave it there overnight and have it towed back to the states today, were going on a two week trip with kids but now had to cancel it. When they talked with the girl inside the Rec. center she said that they were the fourth vehicle break in report she had gotten that day at the Rec. Center...THAT DAY, (sunday the 30th)

It getting stupid guys, all over. I think we need to possibly set up a deal where we all meet and one guy stays behind for an hour or more and watches the trucks/cars...and you can change off or something...I'm debating on just sitting in the back of my truck with my baseball bat and waiting for some little ba$tard to come after mine...I hear the Canadian Jails are much nicer then ours.. 8)
