Kyuquot Sound Pigs- the freezer runeth over
« on: August 09, 2006, 11:08:50 PM »

Fishing last week with Murphies in Kyuquot again this year, lots of fish around. Limit of big Halis and Springs, and lots of lings and rockfish too. good times

Hey there...

Just curious as to where exactly Kyuquot Sound is?

How did you get up there?

Was it a charter that you took and caught the fish?

The reason I ask is because at one point in my life I'd love to head up the coast and catch a charter and do some serious chuck fishing.  I fish the rivers max. 3 times a year (i fish lakes mostly for peace and quiet) and its fun...but I'd love to try halibut and other fishing.

Thanks,

Kyuquot sound is boat access only. We get picked up at Fair Harbor ( near Zebellos ) by Dave Murphy's crew ( he has a website- www.murphysportfishing.com )  and taken across. Costs around $1700, but that includes everything but booze and is well worth it. Our halis this year were 95, 86, plus a bunch of chickens 25-35lbs. Lings to 40lbs.  We released most springs under 30lbs and the spring pic at the bottom is right around 40, although I thought for sure it was going to go 45+
We saw a spring on the scale at Zebellos on our drive up at 55lbs!
