just how much crap can you put a rod through???
ive just busted my trophy xl after six years of hard work
gave me alot of good times , alot of sad times
not the rods fault lol

what are your expectations when you lay down your hard earned cash
pesonaly after six years of using this rod for SOCKS
and then for drifting for chum i think i got my dollars worth
what do you expect

I suppose you could use the butt part for sturgeon fishing. Just be carefull who goes out with you, the canoe, and the BBQ. And just say no to portable DVD players, so it doesn't end up like that other thread. IMO

you should go to your local shop and see if you can purchase a new tip section. I think this could happen if there is one at the distributors.

fisherforever, I have not been fishing for many years so I don't know about the old rods.  Is your Fenwick 1264 heavier than the current comparable rods?  Also what is it made of?  Thanks.

I have a Daiwa Pro 290E mooching rod.  The tip broke playing a seal  (damn seal got my fish)  Anyways do you think Mike's would have a rod tip for this kind of rod?

Hi Bwi,
I think they can match it for fit and action.  However, it may have to be different color.  The tips, from what I've seen, are of excellent quality.  IMHO, unless you have a high end rod it would be better than the original.

My backup is an old shimano drift rod....I've had that for at least ten years or more....my current is a sage 3113lb on the pin....I hope it lasts forever....although it's seen better days...I would imagine as long as I take good enough care of it then it should be the last drift rod I need to buy....

I look to beat the crap out of a rod for 5 yrs. I did so with my 10'6 MH shimano Converge drift rod, used it for flossing (mono line), float fishing, and tossing spoons....bought the rod for 75 bucks in the spring of 2002 and it still works after about 500 days of use, and 1000's of fish ranging from 2-40lbs faught on it, including some impressive 100 fish days, since I was 12 when I bought it I didn't know the reel purpose of taking good care of my rods/reels. so dropping it occured almost everyday. Just last yr. I equipped my BB setup with tuf-line and within 5 days the eyes were almost 2/3 wore out. Now its my official spoon rod. Now I have replaced this rod with a 11'6 mh shimano technium. And I have a feeling this rod will out perform the one that came before.

There is other rods that I have had longer than this but this one is by far the most impressive one I own.

broke my rod last week on a spring the tip broke and one of the guides the plastic protecting popped out so it rubbed my line and cut it! THat was an 11 foot rod, now i'm using my 9 6" rod, this rod has seen fish that the other rod would be put to the test, 20 chum days, 35 lb springs and so many pinks and coho i couldn't keep count. I think the older the equipment was better than this new crap! especially the rods and reels, now reels have plastic gears not the old metal ones! Hope my new rod that i buy will hold up!
