I went out to the chehalis today and didn’t see anything but chum and the water was still pretty high but the visibility was surprisingly good. Walked the hatchery channel and I could count the coho on one hand easy to spot the red ones from the ones with the growth on them.
Drove to the stave dam saw way more coho there as well as a few hard core snaggers, they left a few minutes after I got there with a bag full of DARK red coho but not over limit as there was like 4 guys in the group...(the fish were hatchery I was able to see them before they bagged em.) DFO officer came looking for them someone had called them in but unfortunately it was too late.
I caught a bunch of chum but no coho although I didn't see anything that I would have even thought of taking home anyways.
Today ends my pursuit of salmon on the river till next year ...bring on the pinks!!!!
Anyone looking for a steelhead partner for the Capilano ?
Thanks too all of you this year I have learned more about river fishing than I thought I could know yet there is sooo much more to be learned.
