Rules and Regs for the Seymour and Tributaries
« on: December 08, 2006, 01:37:06 PM »

Hello All,

New to FWR. Great site with good info. Need some clarification on the Seymour system. Is whole river FLY FISHING ONLY ? No lures or bait at any point? Any help on the clarification would be great as i cant really be certain from the synopsis...

Tanks,

Matt

Bait and lures are permitted. Flyfishing only from Spur 4 bridge to signs at Spur 7

As for the regs just stop by a tackle shop and pick up a copy.

They have changed the regs for a couple years since they are doing a telemetry project on steelhead at the hatchery. All trout and char must now be released weather wild or hatchery.

This change will not be in the regs but you will be able to find it on the online version, also you will see signs posted at most river access areas.

As for a report there are a few summers around still and a few dark coho, I have not hit any winters yet but I am sure they are trickling in to the lower river.

I would suggest stopping by Highwater Tackle on Lonsdale and 2nd in north Van, talk to Dave Steel he knows alot about the river and will put you on the right track (and maybe even give you a copy of the regs).

Good luck

Here is the information on wild and hatchery trout/char release for the entire river, including steelhead:
