Korker Wading Boots
« on: December 26, 2006, 10:49:30 AM »

I recieved a gift certificate to be used on a new pair of boots.  I've  been considering a pair of Korkers with the interchangeable soles.  Does anyone have an opinion before I am out spending, thanks.

I don't have any personal experience with Korkers, but for what it's worth, I think you'll find one sole and stay with it instead of changing often.  I've owned felt, studded felt and aqua stealth.  By far, aqua stealth is my favorite.  It's light, doesn't absorb water, mud or parasites and wears better than felt.  With that said, try on the boot and compare to Simms L2 or others and buy one for fit, not for the exchangeability of the soles.

I have a pair of Korkers and so far they have been  great. I change the soles depending on the river system I am fishing and if I am fishing out of a boat or not.

Big steel used to own a pair and I remember when we were out fishing one day and he lost one of the soles while wading out in the river. He never found that sole. Maybe he will come on here and tell you more.

I have only worn them once since last Steelhead season.  Mainly because I bought that pair off you Freak!! ;)   I liked them, and still do.  Yes I did have a sole issue, they popped out every once and a while.  But that might have been a fitting issue or something. Since I put in the new soles, which seemed to be fitted better, I haven't had another problem. ;)  They are now my Snow/ice wading boots.  The newer soles I got are spiked.  Very grippy outside, but you can damn near kill yourself on a tiled floor!!! ::) ;D ;D
