Buntzen lake - April 21
« on: April 21, 2007, 04:58:28 PM »

With some success at buntzen last weekend I decided to head out there today and troll some flys, the fishing started off slow but ended fairly good with 6 fish making it to the kayak, each fish a little bigger then the last.

The first fish was a energetic little kokanee around 6 inches, shortly after another kokanee was landed a bit bigger.

After the kokanee action things died right off and I decided to paddle my way back to the dock, thats when I caught a nice rainbow around 10 inches.

shortly after the rainbow a nice cutthroat was landed around 12", followed by a slightly bigger cutty, and the icing on the cake was a 15" cutthroat that put up one heck of a fight.

all fish were caught on homemade flys that had black furry stuff and olive fuzzy stuff ;)

I was down the lake a bit when it got windy, took a while to paddle back :-\, but then the wind died off and the sun came out.

Ah ha! Didn't think you were a fellow FWR reader. We chatted across the water for a few mins., I was in the blue v-boat, 3.30pm. I did take a 14-incher shortly after. My wife had that for dinner.... I had wild salmon fillet from Save-On!!. Next time, I'll chat more.... I was quietly controlling a leg cramp - that water is still cold.

Went back out for some more trout on the fly, lots of action but only rainbows today.  The weather was great so I spent some time paddling around and taking pictures.
