simple job.... just watch the way the old 1 was in. you'll save a bunch of money doing it your self and the long waite time of a shop doing it.
try finding a manual on line for your motor.... or go to iboats forum and ask there for advice  ;D

The only problem that I have had replacing them on my outboards is when splines on the main shaft seize up and you cant separate the lower leg from the powerhead. I have had this happen on 2 50hp mercs that i have had over the years and were not maintained regularly by the previous owner. If yours does come apart well make sure that you lube all splines before reassembly and then it is suggested that you pull the lower leg apart at least every 2 years and re apply grease.

Thanks for the advice.  What kind of lube do you recommend for the splines?  Marine grease, or something more fine like WD-40?

Got the impeller off.  It was on so tight, that it took a while.  The gasket took a header in the process.  And, as luck would have it, the shop won't get one until next Friday.  I was getting in a salmon groove also.  7 fish in 2 days.

if you can put the gasket back together to get its shape you can go to an automotive shop like Lordco and buy gasket material that comes in sheets and cut your own buy tracing and using an exacto knife

or if your gasket is far beyond recognition you can use a ballbean hammer and lightly tap around the ouside profile of the gasket you want to make with the materail. that makes a nice profile to cut out ;D

good luck !!!
