Hicks Lake and Deer Lake, with a quick stop at Rolley lake

For those of you willing to throw away 4 minutes and 22 seconds of your life, you can watch the YouTube of my latest succesful fishing trip to the Harrison Hot Springs area. I recommend scotch for the pain.

For those that want the short version: 1 rainbow at Hicks, 1 catfish at Rolley. Deer Lake is a festering swamp, fit for neither man nor beast. Didn't even put the canoe in the water there.

Big fan of Hicks Lake though; perfect for canoeing or trolling with a little electric (there's a hp restriction for powerboats). Trolled with a ford fender and a 'Trout Killer' flatfish. A dozen folks shore fishing from several access points around the lake, lots of rainbows seen pulled up on the beaches. There's a nice hiking trail that circumnavigates the whole lake, I'm told it takes 3 hours to make a complete circuit.

The catfish at Rolley was a total surprise, because I was using a float with only 3 feet of leader on it and the cat came up off the bottom to get it. Bait hook with a worm.

Damn, catfish are ugly. :D

I'm just getting the hang of the new video camera and the software needed to make the videos. I'll try to get more fishing oriented stuff up here and less of the camping aspects.

Thanks for the report and especially the video. Very entertaining. The last time my son and I went to rolley he got a cat fish as well. When he was telling everyone what he caught nobody would believe him.

Nice video! Thanks for the report. We were supposed to go to Harrison hotsprings area I believe last week? But stupid rain canceled it.

I have to agree catfish are nasty-looking things but they taste good ^_^
