Saltwater Report
« on: August 18, 2007, 11:35:32 AM »

Went out for some salmon on the salt Thursday. I started at the Bell Buoy and fished to the QA using anchovy's at 70, 50 & 40' on the ebb tide. The first pass was pretty good. I hooked into 3 springs. 2 undersize and one exactly 62cm that I released. After another hour I headed to Sandheads and started into the dogfish catastrophe. I couldn't keep my lines down for more than a few minutes before another one of those pests attacked. It didn't seem to matter what depth I fished either. After an hour of this I headed back to the QA and fished there for another couple of hours then over to the bell to pick up my crab trap. Sure wish I had a pulley because there was 47 crab inside!! I pulled out 2 males and released the others.

All in all a good day on the water. Heading our Monday for some Halibut.....

Nice report Zpg, good job on the Springs... ;)  You seem to be getting the hang of the new boat in a hurry.

BTW, I don't think I have ever seen a Dogfish.  Isn't it a member of the Shrk family?  Anyone got a pic?

Zpg, if you ever need a deckhand to help you with the crab traps let me know.  I could use the workout and I also seem to not mind Crab and garlic butter... wink wink, nudge nudge!! ;D

No there were lots of legal males but I only took 2 for dinner.
