Fraser this Weekend - First Timer
« on: September 06, 2007, 12:07:35 PM »

Hey All.

I want to get in on the action in the Fraser this weekend.

I will be with a couple friends in a 16 ft Aluminum, coming down from Kelowna.

What would be the best launch spot with quick/easy access to decent fishing areas.  We don't want to spend too much time running from place to place as our main motor is in the shop and we will have kicker power only.  (Honda Four 8hp)

Or is it best to just toss gear from shore?

We would like to fly fish, so perhaps getting out in the boat and anchoring in slightly deeper water to cast to the schools is better?

Thanks,

Damien

Three guys with an eight horse, ...................STAY OFF THE FRASER RIVER.....................
I would suggest you launch at Kilby in Harrison Mills or Barrow Town I believe it is called which takes you to the Vedder Canal to the mouth which leads to the Fraser River..

if the 8 runs good, and you have life jackets and ors, go for it! the fort Langley boat launch is good and the current isn't that fast.  good for pinks around that area.

I appreciate your concern Roe,

The motor is new.  All safety gear is in good order of course.

The guy piloting the boat used to work on the tugs/log booms on the Fraser.

I feel pretty safe.
