We dragged outselves out of bed at first light this morning and did a quick trip. We arrived at our chosen spot only to see Obi Wan already eagerly casting away. Minutes later TtotheE pulled up behind us too. Armed with a fly rod, he hoped to see feathers outfishing metals. Vince and his dad showed up once we started fishing. The tide was still rising, game on.
Vince got into the first fish, which turned out to be the biggest of the season. This big male could just fit into my landing net. There were a few misses when I attempted to scoop it up.
Soon after his catch, I was into a smaller male, which I proceeded to keep. One cast later, I landed another male around the same size, which I released. Once it was sent back, Vince was into another fish, then I was into my third one which I lost near shore. Two other fish were hooked. No love for the feathers today.
After fishing until 8:30am, we decided to make a move as the tide was moving out. We arrived at the next spot where Fish Assassin had been stationing for hours. He reported only one riser all morning with no hook-ups. Rather discouraging, but we decided to give it a go anyway. Dad had one fish rolling beside his feet. Later on he managed to briefly hooked into two fish.
Work now, we shall catch the evening incoming tide later.
