Can you fish the north arm of the lower fraser for coho and/or springs from the shore this time of year?  During the lower fraser pink run I fished the north arm a few times and chatted with a few others there that said they'd caught springs and sturgeon there before.  They were using a bar setup.  They definitely gave the impression that they have success.  Blowing hot air or is there something to what I heard.  Any experiences with fishing for salmon (other than pinks) in the North Arm?  Also, would chucking spoons/spinners or float fishing roe do the job as well as bar fishing?

Would be most interested in what you guys have to say. Cheers!

In some years North Arm can be good.  2005, North Arm produced good numbere of pinks and some odd spring.  But this year, I had no success for pinks in the North Arm let along springs.

Chinook salmon fishing has pretty much ended in the tidal portion of the Fraser River. Coho and chum salmon can certainly be caught by either barfishing (with roe) or spincasting right now until early December. Fish the incoming tides. Coho salmon fishing has been good since opening day (last Saturday). We had some intense action tonight for about an hour right before the tide peaked.

I live about 5 minutes from the tidal portion of the Fraser and enjoyed fishing the pinks last month.  Are the schools of Chum and Coho as easy to notice as the schools of pinks? (i.e. do they jump or roll on the surface)?  Do they generally like to rest in the same areas as the pinks (i.e in a slower current closer to shore).  I'd much rather fish 5 minutes from home than 1 hour's drive away.

Thanks Rodney and BwiBwi for your replies.  Without giving away any secrets any areas in particluar that seem to produce. (can message me if you'd like.  )  I was originally thinking parts of the North Arm along River Road in Richmond.  Also, can anyone comment on how Brownsville bar is for tossing hardware for cohos?

Coho salmon don't show themselves too much down here. I like that as people don't fish a spot unless they are seeing fish. Chum salmon show themselves just like the way pink salmon do, but the rolls are just a bit bigger.

You should be able to get both chum and coho salmon at locations where you were getting pink salmon.
