Chehalis River October 15th, 2007
« on: October 15, 2007, 06:31:50 PM »

Hey Fishman1, Fished the chehalis canyon and saw a few chum in there and landed a 5lbs wild coho. Not much there yet but I also didn't do much walking. The one thing I did enjoy was that there was water to fish and you didn't have any guys all around you once you hook a fish unlike the vedder! water levels were great as well as the clarity. Don't think this rain will do much to change anything but it also depends how hard it falls. The stave river has been producing pretty good. Most fish caught on roe! Goodluck and tight lines!

I'd try the Chehalis. I went to the Vedder yesterday and it sucked, got skunked. Then the same in Nicomen and Stave :( The fish were there but not biting anything, the only thing I saw was a wild(?)coho that my friend got on a fly (he released it).

Mediium level, Gin clear and no vehicles - probably a decent indication of how it is.

If you plan on a trip to the Chehailis be prepared to do a bit of hiking either up in the canyon or down below the Easter Seal ( once upon a time ) run . The water in between the canyon and the Easter Seal will be a challenge as it is a fast straight away , you might intersept a fish going through if your lucky :P. Last outing there a couple weeks ago there was a bear cruising around , they even had the hatchery gates closed to keep the bear out . Be aware where there is bear  :o.There are some nice pools down below the Easter Seal , but you will have to park at the bridge and hike a ways down and don't forget your lunch cause it 's a long way back . I think it should be good fishin in a couple more weeks .
