If your not cleaning your fish before you head home then I can see problems. Problem with not stopping fishing long enough to clean the fish, problem not being prepared to clean the fish or problem cleaning the fish. Anyway you look at it though the fish isn't going to taste any better leaving the guts in it. Cutting the head off means at least you have a knife and aren't afraid of cleaning the fish. Just my two sheckles.
Ahhh What??? I can't make anything out of what you just slurred but......
Bleed your fish immediately, whether you clean it at the shore or at home is 6 of one, half dozen of another.. cleaning your fish at home doesn't effect fish taste etc. at all. I know of companies that buy fish and they will only do it when the fish is "in the round" as in un cleaned so no bacteria is in the fish...getting your fish on ice is secondarily as important as immediately bleeding it...
I'm not sure how having a knife makes you any more of a fisherman on the river, are you or your friends afraid of cleaning fish?? Not sure how pulling out your knife and gutting it makes you think or look like a top rod but hey, if it floats your boat!!! Just make sure you huck all your guts etc. back in the river as it needs it and the stinking seagulls don't!!
