Opinions needed on Portable fishfinders ??
« on: December 28, 2007, 06:51:41 PM »

What is your opinions on the best portable fishfinder for all around use on 14 foot alum. boat and another small boat.  Saltwater and freshwater. Has to be a portable model with batteries and suction cup transducer. Saw a Cuda 128 new for $50 on a closeout sale. I have no idea if this is a worthwhile unit.  ???

I have a Cuda and I am very happy with it. I have it on my Spratley.

Look for the Hummingbird PirahnaMax finders. I have a standard mount one and I find it works great. Contact Jack on FlyBC, he can give you plenty of information on Hummingbird finders.

50 bucks for a Cuda is a good deal. If your making the kinda cash that Dion does then spluge for a more. I use a cheapo Cuda and made it portable. It will run good on a lot less than 12 volts too.

Well, I read your posts and thanks for the help. I bought the Cuda for $49.95 at Joes on closeout. It is a portable model and came with the works. Uses 8 AA batteries. Worked great right out of the box. Put in my 55 gallon motor barrel and it read 3.5 feet in about 20 seconds from start up. We have had so much rain, the barrel was almost full. Thanks again!!! Tight lines.
